Head Gasket gone?

Here are some pics of an engine i have managed to aquire, it was pushing coolant back in the expansion tank after overheating due to the big water hose on the back of the engine splitting.

Before clean up

After a quick clean up

Head gasket that was fitted

Piston No1

Piston No2

Piston No3

Piston No4

My questions are:

Is the head gasket damaged to the extent the symptoms above would occur?

Are the block and pistons damaged?

What work would be needed to get it up and running again (skimming)?

Do i need an uprated head gasket?

All opinions welcome as i am new to the pulsar scene, but already worked out that it is an expensive hobby

head gasket has failed between cylinders 1 and 2 , block maybe warped check with a straight edge or get some one who can, head will also be warped so get it skimmed, more worrying is the large amout of det on cylinder one (nearest the cam chain). cooper payen gaskets are one of the largest suppliers in the world and that would be fine for standard build, if you plan to fit forged pistons then fit a cosworth head gasket as well. Definatley take the pistons out and check for det as no1 looks poorley and could have ring land damage
