Gearbox probs

The gearbox on my road rally car is giving me a bit of grief! The box seems to select 2nd gear on it's own with the selector still in neutral?
Anybody come across this problem?

could well be a detent spring id broken allowing the selecter to move
normally this will make the car fall out of gear though
hope this helps
you can change the detent spring and bearing in situ it behind the plug that has the reverse light sensor wire attached to it on front of box

I fixed mine, it was a recon box that had been put together wrong, they missed out a small pin that slots through the end of the 3rd gear selector rod.
To be honest you really need to strip your box to find out whats wrong, it should be fairly apparent what the problem is when you pull it apart. trust me its easier than you may think.

ive been advised by many not 2 go there
but ive seen the guys on wheels jamaica site do it
seems lentghy but simple enough i have a large garage
to work on it but wheres the catch
