feeling flat,timing out?

just a quicky
having probs with my new r,feels really flat until 4.5k. you can hear the turbo spool up at around 3k but the car doesnt pick up,feels really flat and then it starts going. had a go in my mates r which is same spec and his feels ALOT better.

i immediatly thought the timing was out,so compared the position of his dizzy to mine and his is rotated towards the window alot more than mine is.

just wondering if i set my dizzy to the exact same position as his, will it be roughly the same timing or do they varie alot?

i did the timing on his a while ago as it used to be my car,so i know his is at about 20degrees.

it idles pretty high at 1500rpm, i went to adjust the idle but somebody has rounded off the screw
so got me thinking maybe somebody knocked the timing back to drop the idle down?

what you boys think?

cheers guys

Could be, check it. Sadly it could also be air/fuel and ignition system too as "flatness" is just loss of torque
