i have just tried to fit a new jwr front pipe and cat relacer, i cannot get the sensor out of the cat, i could replace it with a new one but my cat replacer hasnt got the threadet tube to fit it, is this normal? i have seen decats forsale on flea bay , without the hole so do you need that sensor?:?

That sensor is not needed.

All it does is light the hot-dog lamp on the dash when the cat gets over a certain temp, I think as a warning not to park over flammable material.

Doesn't do anything else.

Tie it out the way, cut it off, or you can unplug it somewhere under the interior carpet (can't remember where though!)

the temp sensor acts as a pyrometer if the exhaust temperate exceeds desired conditions the "hot dog" warning light is activated puttinf the ecu into safe mode,


in order to get mine out we had to heat it with a torch till it was glowing, then it was easily removed, then we put it in the de-cat pipe

Its connected under the carpet under the drivers seat.;-)

If the cat is gone you can bin the sensor.:thumbsup:
