Cam timing

Ive looked at the gtirworkshopmanual but it doesnt say what the lobes are doing . And I couldnt find anything on this forum.

Ive set no1 piston tdc .

So on piston no1 no valves should be open when I insert both cams

On no1, Am I right in saying the inlet lobe should have just past the rocker arm, so has just finished opening the inlet valve .

On no1 , exhaust cam, the lobe should be just about to open the exhaust valve so just about to meet the rocker arm.

yes your correct
the lobes of both cams will be horizontally opposed (facing outwards) to each other......you can also use marks on the sprockets to time the engine

thanks bob .

The workshop manual shows a pic of the sprocket marks ,as you'll obviously know but it looks so vague .
