Blow Through set up with STD maf

I want to change my maf to a blow through set up but dont really want to cut a section out of my intercooler pipe to fit the maf. After having a search i have decided to try welding a boss onto the i/c pipe like this :-

Is there any reason why this wont work?

The pipe needs to be the same diamater as the MAF
