i changed the clocks in my car ages ago and with the old ones the temp sat at half way once warm and never moved from there but with the new clocks it sits right at the top of the scale when warm and within a couple of mins from cold its climbing up the scale.were gueges from diferent years on a different scale to others or anything like that?it dont overheat or anything just that it looks like its going to looking at the gauge.

probably just the small motor on the needle has less resistance, so it climbs higher even though the voltage/resistance from the sender is the same as before.

I had centre gauges with white needles (boost, oil temp/pressurem, ones) they ran about 50% too high

a set of red needle'd ones cure the problem...

(previous owner had ditched the gauges in favour of a double height radio?!?)

edit:
hence why i needed gauges
