Standard valves

I wonder if there would be any advantages in wasting the valves stems a little on the standard valves.

You may get a little more airflow throught the head (especially if you do the valve guides as well, assuming they protrude into the runner) but you might weaken the valve for high rpm use and have the head drop off (was just reading the exact same occurance, but totally standard valve on an Aussie forum)

Yeah, I was just thinking of wasting the stems slightly (now my lathe is working :-D ) and taking a little meat off the back of the head.

My guides are already flowed so they don't protrude into the inlet/exhaust tracts but you say though, my concern was weather it would weaken the valve to much

Well the valve I read about had done 9500rpm a few times, so I'd guess if you stuck to the normal rev limit you should be ok. It's a common tuning method and you don't hear of valves failing every day, so it can't be too bad.
