Just had my new exhaust fitted on Sat, and there was a problem - the sensor that goes into the cat pipe had seized into the previous cat replacement pipe on the car..... as a result it had to be cut. I've been told by a couple of people I'll be alright running the car without this as its not needed when the cats not on the car, but I've also been told id is needed.... can anyone help out, who's right? :?

i had the same thing about a month ago. scrool down and you'll se what people said. apparently it isnt linked into the ecu, you can gert decats without the sensor hole in them at all so it should be fine. i unplugged mine under the drivers seat

Thats the cat temp sensor, not to be confused with the lambda sensor. Cutting the wires wont cause any probs, but tape them up so they dont short out or disconnect from under the seat. Jap cars have em top warn when the cat gets hot so that if they park over grass/waste etc it wont set fire to it
