Rocker cover gasket

Sorry for such a dumb question :doh: but do you need to use sealent on the rocker cover gasket when you change it?

you only use sealant on the halfmoons and over the end of the exhaust cam cap where the dizzy connects iirc

I used a thin layer of high temp silicon on both sides of my rocker cover gasket as, it wouldn't seal. I also thinly coated the spark plug sealing 'doughnuts'.
That was a brand new gasket too !

Of course, having said that, I didn't use any sealant on the gasket the first time I fitted it so, the oil seapage could have been from the areas Mr Weasel mentioned ?!

I've not had any need to use any sealer with a genuine Nissan Gasket and not had any leak upto yet.
