engine struggling to idle (fixed)

Im sorry if theres been questions on this before. All other idle problems in the forum seem to be about high idle.

Anyway, when engine has warmed up it is struggling to idle sometimes (drops to around 200-300 rpm) with some spluttering and smoke from exhaust.
Sometimes I stop at junctions, then it conks out!
Could the plugs need renewed? Plugs last changed 7 months ago. Or maybe a fault with a sensor?

Your info would be appreciated.

Is it black smoke by any chance?

Sounds like your overfueling maybe?
The first times the worst, i thoughts i'd blown the engine up or something

Carlsberg's a girls drink

Sounds like an air leak. Which would make it run rich and chuck black smoke out the exhaust  Check the plugs too cos they'll probably be fouled up if its been overfuelling.

Thanks guys for your input. It was certainly an air leak.
I spotted that 2 bolts were the MAF and air filter are joined had become slack. Tightened up and all is hunky dorrie again, so managed to avoid a trip to the garage!
