Hi where can you get running in oil in Scotland as all the motor factors I've checked and parts suppliers don't stock this item!!

Thanks.

i would just get some cheap oil, then run it in gently for 500 or so miles, then change it for something decent.

Is there actually such a thing as a "running in" oil or is it just another synthetic oil?

There is such a thing as running in oil, basically though you just want an oil that isn't friction modified.

You don't use synthetic oil to run a motor in mate, It's far to slippery  .

So regular mineral oil for the run in? What rating? 10W40 or similar?

Use a mineral oil for run in... I personally used the recommended Millers 10w/40 Running in Oil...

Running in oil is just basic mineral oil, nothing more.

A good 10w-40 semi is fine to run in with.

Cheers

Guy.
