if i gave mine some wellie, it would sometimes misfire @5k revs. Didn't happen frequently enough for me to pay it much attention but the engine is out now for a rebuild so i'll have a look at my plugs at some point too,

Makes sense, especially if under boost. - Maybe a stronger coil might be able to jump the gap if you don't want to reduce it.

It's a bit of a balancing act; a smaller gap is easier to spark, but it's really weak. A larger gap is a much stronger spark, right until it's too big and it doesn't spark. - Don't forget that with compression and boost the effective gap (i.e. if it was just in air) might be many times larger.

Personally I had the opposite problem. Too small a gap meant that the spark wasn't strong enough, so you could see the power die-off then try to come back with increasing revs.

Good, thanks for that, my knowledge of Turbo engines is weaker than NA. Replaced everything HT, including eye wateringly expensive plugs.
It was certainly boost related. Ticked over like a switch watch, soon as it got a boot full it missed.
Rallying is basically full throttle full boost everywhere, except when you are standing on the brakes. Not subtle at all.
    Fingers crossed

Still running an atmo boost valve, trying hard to convince myself to blank it off. Worried about my expensive ball bearing turbo though...

Realistically just to get it taxed and mot'd, there is some rust on the passenger sill which needs doing and the rear calipers are a bit sticky but other than that it should pass an mot. It's been off the road since Aug 2014 but now my daughter is a bit older and things have calmed down a bit I reckon it's time to sort it out.

It's still got a standard turbo on it after the 3071 went but I've still got a Borg Warner EFR planned for it and then maybe some Intrax suspension and sorting the paintwork out as the laquer has gone in places, all that can wait for now though.

Well, I actually found some OE Nissan floor supports and right rear outer turret assembly still in stock in japan, so I have them coming, shipping sucked but oh well. Since I'm deployed in Africa at the moment I've just been slowly purchasing little odds n ends and having the misses throw them inside the car. She says it's getting rather crowded inside lol.

Cleaned up the shell this weekend. Lots of moss had fallen off the garage roof onto the P. Not to mention the pigeons that must have cleft arse holes given the size of the poos on the bonnet. The bastards!!

Test fit new GTX2871R turbo and fresh crimped oil and coolant lines, painted exhaust manifold heat shield, mocked up/fabbed intercooler piping, cut extended length exhaust manifold studs to accommodate spacer plate.

Yeah, they're glass. I didn't know you could get otherwise.

That's really good to know. I know TYC likes to make replacement lenses out of plastic for some applications. But they do make nice stuff.

I want to replace my headlights for 2 reasons: One is OE nissan and the other is a DEPO, and the pattern on the glass is different between the 2.
Also, I want a set of headlights from a Pulsar destined for a left hand drive country, even though my car is RHD, we drive on the right side of the road in the USA, and headlights from a country that drives on the left side of the road (i.e., Japan), blind the shit out of oncoming drivers over here. I think what I need to do is order a set of TYC headlights for a Pulsar in the German market. The guys in Canada figured out that the reflectors inside are different from LHD to RHD.
