Cant believe i forgot to post this happened couple of weeks ago, anyway...

was off to our local morrisons which is off a 60mph road, as i pulled in saw this VX220 shoot past up the road, anyway went did the shopping etc and as i was pulling out who should come from the way he came...so i changed my indicator to left from my original right (the G/F was asking what i was doing...  ) followed him up this 60mph to a dual carriage way, both sat at the lights, when they turned green had to turn as its a T junction but then both booted it, crept past him but i'm glad it wasnt any faster coz the look on his face was priceless (it was an 04 plate or something  ) after about a ton he started to slow for his junction but by now his nose was level with my flames from the exhaust 8) , and the best thing is my car only has a Goose and a K & N! 1 - 0!

I have also had a tangle with one of these as my mate has one. I can confirm it kills a standard R when driven properly. However after getting my R set at 1 bar I beat him every time 8)

Danny, my site is only theory figures but again they are fairly accurate on this model.

What I should point out is that in the real world the 1/4mile time isn't the best to use, and 4wd cars will always launch better anyway. If you use/compare the "through 60-100 times" once the car is moving, then this will give you a better indication of what will really happen in a road race.

As a general rule, if your comparing two cars and they are withing 10-15% of each other in this area, then you won't notice too much difference really on the road. Bigger difference and one should really start pulling away.

Here's the figures.....

VX220:
Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 197
Weight without Driver (KG) : 930
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 215.23
0 - 60 (Secs) : 5.18
0 - 100 (Secs) : 13.41
60 - 100 (Secs) : 8.22
Quarter Mile (Secs) : 13.59
Terminal Speed (MPH) : 100.67
Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 13.49
Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 101.85

STANDARD PULSAR
Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 220
Weight without Driver (KG) : 1220
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 183.22
0 - 60 (Secs) : 5.42
0 - 100 (Secs) : 15.26
60 - 100 (Secs) : 9.84
Quarter Mile (Secs) : 14.20
Terminal Speed (MPH) : 96.45
Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 13.80
Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 99.48

PULSAR 240BHP (EXHAUST and FILTER)
Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 240
Weight without Driver (KG) : 1220
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 199.88
0 - 60 (Secs) : 5.00
0 - 100 (Secs) : 13.82
60 - 100 (Secs) : 8.81
Quarter Mile (Secs) : 13.76
Terminal Speed (MPH) : 99.80
Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 13.36
Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 103.00

1 BAR PULSAR (EST 280BHP)
Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 280
Weight without Driver (KG) : 1220
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 233.19
0 - 60 (Secs) : 4.37
0 - 100 (Secs) : 11.73
60 - 100 (Secs) : 7.36
Quarter Mile (Secs) : 13.09
Terminal Speed (MPH) : 105.62
Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 12.69
Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 109.10

So as you can see from the 60-100 times there isn't much in it between a VX220 and a 240bhp R, but only the 1 bar car will be noticable quicker once moving (7.36secs V 8.22secs) but its not huge.

With only 240 bhp you would be VERY hard pushed to beat him, He couldn't of been trying and perhaps laughing at your attempt to try and race him

These things are pretty quick and inless you have around 260 bhp+ forget it and before you start giving it the big one I have raced these cars many of times and I can only just about beat one when I'm running around 280 bHP. They are very light

...what I said is that there isn't much difference between a 240bhp R and a VX220 Turbo, but the VX does have a slight edge in theory.

I would hardly call 930kg that light, bearing in mind an early elise is just over 700kg, but its still light compared to an R and hasn't so much transmission loss either.

No ones mentioned how quick the VX220 can be if tuned, its a trubo remember. If the quicker version, the VXR (220bhp) shifts, think about a boosted 280bhp version!

I had another Vauxhall try it on tonight. An Astra turbo, why do they bother  I just strolled away (not even launching) to the sound of his wheelspin  Even on the move I strolled away easily. I don't normally bother with such slow cars but he needed to be put in his place :p
