before anyone starts slating these cars i'll say this - the ST205 is an excellent car, really well made (apart from the problematic fig8's). a good match for a scoob and evo. the build quality surpasses our little cars in a big way, also superior to early evo's and all imprezas :D nice looking cars as well when you consider they first appeared 12 years ago. they handle great in standard spec. just like the pulsar they are virtually unknown and hence frowned upon by scooby owners.

i'd have one, from what ive heard about the transmission - they are pretty much bulletproof up to 450 - 500 bhp, really good torque figures as well, only thing letting them down is the weight of them. huge improvement on the ST185, its like comparing an RS turbo to a pulsar. its certainly a car i would consider, only drawback is their forum is really really boring and drab

Yeah they do weight a bit, but so do the latest shape Evo's (7 onwards are 1400kg plus) but with the correct mods they can be very quick.
I've heard they cost some to modify big time, but what doesn't, take it to Fensport and you can be in the 11's with reliabilt, for loads of dosh and a box that can handle it too.

I raced a 300bhp (mag featured) GT4 up santapod last year and whipped his a s s on all occassions, so bhp per bhp the Pulsar wins, but the GT4 is still different than all the scoobs, and far more revined that Pulsar, so depends what you want.

There is a regular GT4 owner on here, i'm sure he'll make a comment soon....

13.1s 106mph, 4.7s to 60mph (wet) and 0-100mph in 11.7s. (modded)

bog std gearbox and shafts! fensport cars are over 600bhp and using std transmission stuff.
:D
i rate them very highly, not so well known as evos and scoobs obviously!

Toyota's are better quality through and through as the other car I maintain is a '2. Even the fuel filters are designed to survive a nuclear impact. The downside is they weigh too much in comparison to other 4wd cars of the same ilk.

IMO it is one of the best looking 4wd cars, the impreazza, EVO and pulsar are all ugly.

Depends if quality and looks are at the top of your list or not.

both my mates have st205's and i can say from experience that the toyota is by far a superior car be it 100kg heavier at 1380kg!! but they handle extremely well they have a good topend and the acceleration isnt that bad!

one thing i would say is that you seem to have alot of the power higher up the rev range.

as said previously Fensport have run two celica's and there 600bhp corrolla on standard transmission for a while now

another good thing about the is the insurance!! almost half the price of my pulsar!!

oh and 315mmm 4 pots front , 315mm 2 pot rears!! other than the rx7 this was one of the fastest stopping production cars of its time!!

30k new and can get em from 5k onwards now!!

just a shame nissan never had three or four goes at getting it right like toyota subaru and mitsi!!! :(

I recently sold my pulsar and bought a celica gt4, its the st185, the older version with the pop up lights. fire and skill is so right, the forum is boring. the car is no where near as fast as the pulsar was, but its a different drive. Its boosting up just after 2000 rpm, its more of a gt car than the pulsar, the pulsar is the football hooligan, where as the gt4 is like a retired boxer, laid back, but it still packs a punch.

Ive allways fancied one of these, i couldnt afford the st205, so i picked up a j plate gt4 wide body for 2 grand, totally standerd, not bad. and the insurance is much cheaper.

The mods are all the same, the cat on these are supposed to be really restrictive and the intercooler is a joke, you thought the pulsar had heatsoak, this thing is half the size.

But, i do miss the pulsar

Hey im back!!!! :D :D :D
Cant agree more than what is already said to be honest. Stock, the ST205 is quicker than the pulsar, but once the mods start going on the pulsar is quicker purely cos of the weight. Mine is 332bhp and I dont seem to have any problems with beating scoobies, evos, m3's or even a 350bhp skyline gtr (see video i posted a few months back). The jap ones are rated at 255bhp also.
Like the pulsar they are rather rare and people get a shock when they get beat by them.

Im getting 4.1 sec 0-60 and a 1/4mile of 13.2 with my spec on the standard turbo.

Hope this helps.
