yeah the track is a bit nasty, my brother came off his bike on that corner after the bridge, its difficult to judge how fast u come off the straight as u cant see the road, it dips below ur line of sight and also away to the right. not really a great course all round but its not bad.

u should have went on with the road legal Rob, those tin can nova's with their calibra engines and heaters on full blast dont give a toss if they smack you.

Flat tracks = :bored:

I didn't mean I'd like it to be flat, Just that I wasn't expecting it to be so hilly  , I liked the fact it was hilly I just wish I'd had more time to learn it rather than trying unsuccessfully to fight off the nova boys  , Next time I'll get more space and time to take it all in  .

Anglesey (good learner, technical with lots of run off)
Oulton Park (International circuit very fast, good though)
Elvington Airfield (Good beginner, fast, fun, safe but kills tyres)

I'm thinking the same too Pete. Do a gentle one to bed the car and driver in again.

I think the saying is "the older I get, the faster I was"

Its practice, practice, practice, I had a lay off for a few years then came back into it, took me a few events to get back any were near the speed I was before, I was over driving the car not smooth at all. Then we did a wet event and I was forced to drive smoother, result got my first award in the Pulsar behind an Evo 8 and a RA Subaru, beating other Evo's, Cossy's, TVR's and BMW's etc
Its also confidence and undertstading what the car is doing under you, pick a track with big run off areas so you can have a go and feel safer, get the car sliding etc but build up your speed dont try and go mad as soon as your out there.
Prepare for massive tyre wear and above all enjoy.
Another thing is get as fast as you can with the car as it is THEN tune it some more if you want, but use what you have to the full first. Otherwise your wasting your money as its you that can go quicker not the car. 400 BHP in a Pulsar on road tyres is more then enough on a track, (Drag Race is a different)

Have fun

From Green Dwarf: The above from Phil is probably the best advice youll get, like u say funny how........ - Just ignore the pussies that dont do the track and just extract the urine. Like Phil says practise practise practise.

I would add, which he is saying in other words practise /drive the car until it becomes, NO! IS! A PART OF YOUR OWN BODY! not an extension of it and all that crap but litterally like as if it is YOU!. Do it enough and it will become an automatic response. Subliminal, something you dont have to think about but an automatic response, from your brain stem. - Almost as if you could be asleep or in a coma but still push that car through the lines.

You will achieve this if you try/practice. Its like walking or riding a push bike. None of us could before we took our first steps, and then we had to try hard, very hard and indeed all of us fell over a lot!. I am sure you will have pleasure in improving your times. Take it easy and build it up as your skill improves dont be a hedge hero! - A wounded pride heals a lot faster than broken bones or cars for that matter.

ps it helps, well its an awfull lot to do with attitude of mind! be relaxed and I know it sounds wierd but at least at first dont try to hard.

Rather than tring to do your very best, and beat others. Close your mind to all else and just relax.

Open your mind and self awareness to just your core functions and the car. After a while you will only be aware of the car. - Now you are in the zone! I know this might sound like a load off b8llcks but it really works. Good Luck! ; )

Regards Mike

Did anybody see top gear last night? James May was with Jackie Stewart at Oulton Park, Jackie helped May shave 20 seconds off one lap. Amazing to watch, he also give some very good tips.
Cheers

Yes that was one of the best thing's I've seen on top gear so far, Just how much would you have to pay to get that sort of driver training  , I'd sell a kidney for the that kind of opportunity  8) :-D .
