tell me about it, i think i pay one of those bastads at least every month, as you say you cant do a damned thing about it, even if you lie and say you sent it it doesnt wash with them lol.
im my own worst enemy though because when we scrap the cars i forget to fill in and sort the paperwork so pay for it time and time again : (

sound about right for this country..............penalise the easy target!

I reckon there will be protests and riots soon with the way everything is going, self employed are now hit with whats called payment on account, which basically means you pay your tax before you earn the money.

There is a way to get out of it (tried and tested).
I've been done and tbh we've all had the reminders and just forgot or misplaced it and hey presto there's a fine on your door matt.
If you write a letter saying you were in hospital or similar at the time when the sorn was due and when you came out it was the last thing on your mind then they have been known to drop penalty.
From what i've seen they won't ask for any evidence either.
Best used as a backup and not an excuse to not sort your sorns out in time.
Good luck and if you get away with it mines a pint at the next big meet.
Cheers, Ben

There not trying to bring this in it comes in in the spring which is soon .the dvla will do it through the insurance data base its called continuous insurance enforcement when you insurance is up for renewal you will get a reminder from dvla if you don't renew you get a fixed penalty fine £100 if you ignore this its then. Clamp then towed away and destroyed as well as a court case and a fine of £1000 even if its parked on private property so ignoring it sounds like a really good idea. The new offence is called keeping a vehicle with out insurance .

Even if its tucked up for the winter in your garage?
if its uninsured and not sorn then then technically yes they could come and seize it there intention is to remove all uninsured vehicles out of use .Im sure that its only a matter of time before they start breaking in to your garage to remove your uninsured car ( you can just imagine some of the jobsworths that will enjoy doing this ) it will all fall under this new offence of keeping an uninsured motor vehicle.Given the rise in premiums and fuel cost it looks like the sheds (my gtir) days are numbered

if its tax and not insured thenyou will send u a fine if its sorn and not insured then u are fine its only when it is taxed that it needs to be insured

so keep it sorn and no need for insurance so long as its not used on the road

there all the same mate but there is a insurance out there for each person. i have had loads of people say try these try them but they can come no wher near what i pay. never just renew with out hagling with them or trying a couple of new places. Thing is it takes for ever on the phone i hate when i tell them my car is a R and a inport nothing said then take all my details and last min turn round and say we do not insure inports WHAT
