    Car Shows

    • Categories:
      1. Upcoming Events

The show formerly known as Mondello Jap-Fest will have a new look this year as it retains its Japanese Motorsport focus but opens its doors to competition from European Car culture. The event will have the support of Media partner Modified Motors as well as leading car care suppliers Autoglym.

The Jap-Fest and Eurostyle Show is scheduled for Sunday September 5th and as usual will have a full day of track action and displays by Irelands top modified car clubs, web sites and trade exhibitors, alongside a collection of the best modified cars in the country.

Maintaining a Japanese Motorsport theme, Drifting, Time-Attack and Drag racing will still be the main focus of this years event, but with the addition of a Japanese V's Euro flavour. Drifting and Time-Attack continue to be dominated by Japanese Cars and with little or no Euro involvement in these areas it will be the Drag Race action where the two car cultures will go head to head.

Alongside the competitive track action being provided by round five of the Pro-Drift Series, Round 6 of the Irish Time-Attack Championship, and the Drag competition, Jap-Fest and Eurostyle will also feature track day and drifting practice sessions and some still to be announced track demonstrations. Tickets for the show will be available for sale shortly on the Mondello Park web site where entry forms for all competitions along with booking forms for stands and track sessions can also be found.

The addition of non-Japanese cars to the car displays and club stands should bring in the biggest line-up of modified metal ever seen at a Mondello Show and for 2010 this portion of the event will be organised in-house by Mondello Park. The Show'n'Shine competition will pit the Eurostyle and Japanese cars against each other and will be judged by Autoglym. This competition will carry an impressive prize line-up with the winner receiving a Mondello Park Motor Racing School course and prizes being awarded to the top three cars. The event will also feature a strong line-up of trade exhibitors and feature stands.

      TIME ATTACK

Back once again for 2010 is the Irish Time Attack Championship with round six of its seven race schedule. Time-Attack gives car tuners the opportunity to prove who has the fastest car over a single lap of a track. Time-Attack requires a car with all round performance. This season sees a seven race series take place at Mondello Park with Time-Attack as the headline act at six of those events, supported by car track days. For this event the Time-Attack racers will share top billing with the Prodrift Irish Championship.

The Time-Attack competition will be decided over four sessions. Practice will be followed by two qualifying sessions which will decide the running order for the Final. The final is the only session to count towards the overall result and for the second occasion during the 2010 season the final at this event will follow the highly popular single lap shoot out format. In the single lap shoot out the running order is decided by the times from qualifying with the slowest driver going first and the fastest qualifier taking to the track last.

For information on the Mondello Park Time-Attack series see HERE

      PRODRIFT
The second Japanese Motorsport to feature at Jap-Fest will be Drifting. This is one of the few forms of motorsport where speed is not the deciding factor as style and skill are what makes the difference. Following eliminations where cars run singly, drivers that qualify go head to head in two car battles through a sixteen car run off to decide the winner.

For the 2010 Jap-Fest & Eurostyle Show, Prodrift will bring the fifth and final round of their Irish Series to Mondello Park for their first visit of the season.

For further information on Prodrift see HERE.

      DRAG-SPRINT

Ireland's fastest cars are invited to take part in the drag competition which this year will feature a Japanese v's European battle. The cars will be split into classes where they will compete for class honours in the heats ,before the top eight European and Japanese cars go forward to the finals

The heats will mix all cars together and competitors will then be seeded according to their qualifying times for the knock out finals, with the aim of keeping the fastest drivers apart until the final race. The drag sprint will take place on the Mondello Park main straight over two sessions. Session one will be practice and heats while the entire knockout section will be run off in one final session.

      TRACK TIME
The Mondello Park Jap-Fest & Eurostyle Show offers modified and performance car owners a unique opportunity to take part in Ireland's only active modified car show. Prior to taking their place among the exhibitions in the paddock we are offering car clubs and associations, as well as individual drivers, the chance to take their cars on track for a track session.

These sessions take place in the morning and are limited to the first clubs to confirm their bookings with some spaces held for individuals. The number of cars on track and the requirements for participants are available from Mondello Park on booking. The cost per session will be set so clubs can reduce the cost per driver by increasing the numbers participating.

To view the track day regulations which will be enforced for all track time sessions at Jap-Fest see HERE.

      IRELANDS TOP MODIFIED CARS
The show car area will this year host Irelands best modified cars. in two categories, Japanese and Eurostyle. Cars for this area come from web sites, forums and individual owners with all cars being vetted to ensure only the best of Irelands modified cars make it into the show.

Any additional show vehicles arranged by the organisers are usually also displayed in this area.
