i have an all but standard 'R' approx 240-250bhp and i my best run down pod is a 13.008. Now for a poobru, or evo for that matter to run a similar time they are lookin at havin to be runin about 320bhp.

Personally i wouldn't be too worried but if your gonna do it do it down santa pod, not on the public highway

hi all, ive just found out a little more about this guys scooby, its not standed!! its running appox 400bhp (dunno where my brother got 277 from) and its a special edition. My R is pretty standed really before i had my new engine in, it ran 270bhp and i had it dyno'd the other day (along with some other stuff) and forgot to ask what it was running!! im going down tomorrow and picking up the print out of it. it should be around 280bhp.

the bloke reckons he's got the fastest car in buxton lol he's supposed to be a right :der:

i think im going down stoke on sunday tho (NE BODY COMING!!!) I mite see if he wants a race there where its more safer.

thanx for your help every1.. i think i need to do it:p

racing in the streets.....seemd a bit childish if you ask me. There's a time and place for everything and the street isnt for racing. As for the 400bhp scoob, still wouldnt bother me about having a go at it down pod..........6500rpm...side step the clutch and your away......:D

hmmm my little old 205 could stay with scoobys on twitsys, IMO racing 400bhp cars drag style on the road is plain stupid though! i mean we all know youl both hit 100 in no time, but ill bet my car you wont be happy stopping there and youll keep trying to catch the faster car...

give it a miss, tell him u wouldnt wanna embarrass him, your cars to special to wreck, ect keep him guessing and hell never know whos the quicker.

Its not worth breaking your car mate, side stepping your clutch at 5k will probably kill it. And even then if the scoobys got 400bhp he will still obviously whoop your ass.
A friend of mine has got a scooby, he was running about 240bhp and i was 280 at this point, but he also had a type RA (close ratio) box in. Needless to say i couldnt pull away from him till we hit 3rd gear so watch out, the scoobs have quite a bit less transmission loss than we do.

In all honesty mate, Scoobys are **** comabared to an R......racing on the streets or private roads is a bit pants as well.

Ask him to take it onto a track on even down the local drag strip that has timing gear. You want to be racing Evo's etc not tractor powerd 4x4's and decent powered cars.

I managed to beat an Evo FQ340 with my R with 333 bhp.

nice one matt, well its had a fresh low milege engine, brand new AP paddle clutch, white gtir speedos, delimeted, hybrid turbo, dump valve, 4" stainless steel exhaust (tail pipe), induction kit, recent spray, new high octane 17" alloys and tyres, custom gtir pulsar car mats!!

i think thats about it, its pretty standed really... nobles said thats a good bhp as the only mods (engine benifit) is the exhaust and induction kit!! im soon gonna get a front mounted intercooler, and then have a chip put in and have it re-mapped. but that will be when i have some more pennys!!

yeah that would be good if you came up mate, i mite of had a drink on friday nite tho, but if you can meet saturday im not doing anything.

4" exhaust ? how did you manage to fit that over the back axle ? or is it side exit or something ?

For 286bhp id say it also had the 1 bar trick done to it aswell;-)

If you have the standard boost solenoid on(should be on a bracket infront of the dizzy)
it will probably have a pipe going between the 2 outlets this gives you 0.95bar.
Or a bleed valve!

Ill be up Buxton sat night with the football team after our Derbyshire cup match,so maybe sunday.

I may be able to source you a Nissan Skyline R33 GTR intercooler core8) 8) for when you get a front mount,
but youd have to get a pipe run made up,i may be able to point you in the right direction there aswell;-)

If youve got some pennies saved up id say get a piggyback ecu like the Greddy emanage blue instead of chipping it and mapping,
probably nearly the same cost anyway.

nice one, yeah i no it had a bleed valve on it before the new engine was put in but i cant see it now so just assumed they hadnt put it back in, the bloke at nobles said its running at about 13psi and i think he said about 0.8- 0.9 bar of boost. yeah that would be great if you could sort me out them bits when i get the front mounted intercooler.

cool just giv me a bell when your up buxton mate!!

waste of time racing on the street imo, he might be talking crap with his 400bhp anyway so invite him to a local drag stip....

I fully agree with both your points dooie, nearest drag strip is the pod:? :p

I think this little stretch of "private road" is nowhere near any houses and theres no traffic either.

Al:I didnt see your last post but what was edited???

Just curious now.
