You need to open the bleed bolt on the stat housing when filling the system. once coolant starts to run out with no air in it close this off and continue to fill the system until it is full which is
something like 5 liters . The manual gives you a diagram and shows you where to put a paper clip under a part of the rad cap then put it on. Run up to temp then let cool refill as necessary. I've done this a few times and it worked fine. Manual helps for the paper clip carry on as i not going to try to explain it or why you do this........
Ok thanks i will try this when i fill it up, i went to another parts place to get another thermostat to check it wasnt that and the guy there said every time hes seen this happen the water pumps been buggerd which would make sense so im pulling that off and replacing it to he said just check it but i thought i may aswel replace it while im there

I never had to use that bleed bolt either! I just grab the big rubber rad pipes and give them a rigorous squeezing with the rad cap off!

Oh!!! Forgot to say! With the engine warm and running so the stats open and water is flowing!

Just a bit of an update , i replaced the waterpump (old 1 looked ok) bleed the system and put my old thermostat back in and it seems to be ok now still wants to overheat if i dont turn the fans on and its just sitting there but i guess thats normal? On the note does anyone know why my fans woudnt be turning on automatically? Or how to diagnose?

Temperature switch knackered? There's 2 of them on the back of the engine. One for the gauge and one for the fans I think.

Yea il do a compression check just to be shore. The relay is ok but its not getting a signal to turn it on , i read somwhere that if i put a paper clip in plug of the fan heat sensor and complete the circuit it should turn the fans on but i did that and nothings happning
