yes the plan is for sprints/fast road use.

Why were the scans taken off the page after such a long time since i posted in this thread?

Anyone done the full chassis strengthening?

tbh its alot of work for not really a bit difference in outcome.

my current (unfinished) track car has been fully stitch welded underneath and at all the suspension points, especially around the area in question.

and combining this with 4 point under braces, roll cage and strut braces, i dont think you could make the car much stronger.

even if it did make it stronger, i doubt it would make much difference to rigidity.

thanks for the response Vss and you may have some validity to what you are saying, but im sure there is some merit to it. For those who are interested in motorsport there seems to be a gap in information from those who might have raced/rallied/prepared/engineered such cars since we have the manual but do not know what is the overall effect of such work. we can only specualate. I for one am a "driver" and care very little for straight line so all things possible to make the IR handle better is up my ally.

My car is presently being seam welded. I am also getting an underbody 4pt brace made and some bushings to complete the handling work....hopefully I will be able to keep up with my friend evo 6 rs.

I guess this section is like a bar after happy hour at 5 am....scanty. But thanks again VSS for your input.

because until yesterday I hadn't seen the scan's........

Removing those scans and links will no doubt be meet with some disagreement but this action was taken to help the original document keep some it's true value and rarity.

Martyn's right anyway, over seem welding the panels inside and out, fitting braces and a cage the group n mods will make very very little difference to the rigidity of the shell.

but if you want one, read this thread, and contact Nad to obtain your copy

Sorry for stepping on anyones toes. I do think its a bit off though, I thought the idea was to share information, not control it so someone can re-coup on buying it but its your club mr chairman so your rules

there was no personal financial intensive to me removing the images and links all I was doing was keeping to the wishes of one of the original owners. The original document is rare and it would be nice if it stayed that way.

Oh and by the way it's not my club, it's "our club" I just do what i can to help run it as smooth as possible :-D and as fairly as possible try to make agreeable rules.

Nissan is the original owner and legal holder of any copyrights.

Attempts by others to claim any form of ownership (no matter how egotistical) are bogus.

I find the idea of trying to restrict access in order to maintain a selfish sense of rarity and justify the ripoff price being charged several years ago for a bit of time and effort (that should have been donated to the greater good anyway) insulting and childish...

Here is a copy with no watermarks or password protection which is freely available to all:

Non taken, in fact upon reading your inspiring post I wholeheartedly agree with you...........

So much so that if you don't mind I will download it myself and host a copy on our server and make a sticky thread in the tech section...........

PS> sorry to all those that were previously trying to access this doc, not quite sure what I was thinking by removing the links in the first place, I was tired and cranky that day though

Glad you've changed your mind. I apologuise for my comment it was flippant and churlish at best, I do think the club is very well run. I really shouldn't post anything in my lunch break as I'm never in a great mood lol.

On a different noe, how do we rename the rnn14vhsvideos files that are available? Seems to be some multipart zip archive thing. I'm curious.

Yeah they're just a multipart zip file (due to the 100mb limit on MediaFire).
Use a compression program like 7zip, WinRar or HJsplit to combine and decompress (If they ask for a password it will be "gtiroz").

It's a collection of all the clips featuring the GTI-R from the Japanese video magazines BestMotoring and CarVideoReview in the early-mid 1990's.
It also has the 3 Nissan promotional videos from that time (2x WRC reviews, 1x Sports lineup).

All are in Japanese but still a great watch. They are in DIVX format. Quality is average coming from VHS.

They were not posted here when I first converted them a few years ago due to the potential copyright issues perceived by management, but maybe now it will be ok?
They are no longer available for purchase new and have not been re-released in English.

Took me many, many hours to do. Payment is accepted in the form of warm fuzzy feelings :)

Anyone managed to get the vids extracted?

Doesnt seem to want to do it for me using winrar, keeps claiming the first of the vids is damaged or an unknown format!
