hmm, i couldnt manage to shake him off on the open road but when we slowed down at junction and set off again i was making distance. think the 4wd system must have sapped my power at mid speed, would have him on a launch. it is my mates rs and only has rather large goose system on it. was quite impressed with the performance. maybe i need more than trusty 1bar boost

if rolling and both at 40mph, say you don't drop down a gear, you will find it hard to pull away, the 4 x 4 system does sap power once rolling..

Lets put it this way, if my car (a 300bhp = fwd gti with gti-r engine) was rolling at 40mph to a gti-r with 300bhp = i would leave it for dead.

so make sure when rolling against high powered front wheel drive cars drop down a gear to get the lauch mode again, if not the car will fill bogged down outside the power (turbo lag) band

i think i would certainly beat him to a hundred from a launch, once rolling though, some of these good powered fwd cars put up a bit of competition.

Focus RS handles brilliantly and once rolling against any half decent car the difference in outright acceleration always becomes much more marginal.

On the twisties the RS would probably pull away, on a more straightish road the R might pull a little lead if having 300bhpish and assuming the RS is stock (a lot of them aren't).
