Hi Guys,

Ok i dont think GAZ shocks are going to be able to make the coil overs i want?

So i have emailed BC coilovers on there ER series as they dont make them for the GTI-R

They came back with this.

I have had a reply back from the factory, it may be possible to develop this
kit.

Can you take some pictures of the space around the strut so we can see how
feasible it is to have the room for the external canister please.

I don't think there would be enough interest in the camber/castor topmount to
warrant development, unless you wanted to commit to a large order. We only do
these for Evo, Impreza and 200SX.

We do not support group buys, the kits are priced very well, there is no need to
discount them to sell them, especially the ER series.

The external reservoir will be mounted to the strut near the bottom mount for
our design, please see the attached picture.

Am not sure if anyone would be interested in a set? if not i might see if they can make me a set to try?
If they do make them how much boys would like the camber/caster top plates? and rear camber top plates?

Still waiting on prices but you would just buy them from the company.

I would be interested in them depending on price. MCA were talking about making some for the R in different levels of performance.
If you haven't heard of the most the top cars from the World Time Attack Challenge in Oz run them.

Not 100% on price, i have asked them... 200sx is around £1250?
I have also asked them how much orders they would need to warrant development on top camber/castor plates and rear camber plates.

Yes BC do the standard coilovers for the GTI-R but not the ER ones.

Was looking for proflex coilovers but they are around 1K per corner...

If they dont want to make these i will just custom fit a set from a other car, like the carbon props.... 3-4 week delivery so i might order that when i get home, in no big rush for one just now though, but its all parts i need to finish my car.

To be honest, it won't be a big job for BC to make ER coilovers, all they will do is change some of the parts around and mountings, use a ER unit from another car and hey presto the coilover it is ready.

Do they not offer top mount adjustment already on the standard units, if so then it could easily be replicated or exchanged onto their ER units.

These are made by the same company as D2 coilovers, however they come with elongated bolt holes at the bottom of the units so you can add or reduce camber front and rear. The BC coilovers should be the same design?

As for caster, if they don't offer it, I would just recommend Jim castor mod, does they job and can be applied to most coilovers.

Back to the units, I take it we could spec out own spring rates again?

It won't be hard for them to make a set up.

They already do camber front plates and make caster/camber plates for other cars.

Yes am sure you can pick your own springs..

Bloody fed up chasing every c*nt and his dog for bits for these thing....

Found a company that might make LSD diffs next year (Company already makes gearsets etc) so just waiting on them next year to see what they come back with.

Stu one of the Oz guys got in contact with MCA little while back and asked if they'll be making something for the GTiR. Response was they will be doing something for the N14 but not sure when.
Maybe if you guys put some pressure on them they might do it sooner.

All the rally guys I know rate these as the ducks nuts and clearly the results from WTAC speak for themselves.

Hi Velly4I will try and give them a email, it's hard to get on the internet out here and might just wait till am home.If BC say they can make a set that will do me for now, my car will never get finished if i dont start getting parts. Need to order a dog gear set some time next year, seen a GTI-R NME 6 speed box for sale today but cant get spares for it if it breaks.

Would be nice if somebody was to buy the NME 6 speed and send it to somewhere like Quaife and get it duplicated and get a custom cnc case, but then who wants to spend 3, 4, 5, 6 grand on a gearbox.

Yep thats it!

Spend 5-6K on a gearbox then you need to get a transferbox, starter etc to match in with it, not sure if the drive shafts are the same too. Spend all that money and they still break!

The MCA suspension looks well engineered but prices start from £2200 (AUD4000) for the dump/rebound adjustment kits so will be out of range for most of us.

Bringing this back up, are there any tarmac spec coilovers available for our cars?

I know Bardy runs Proflex with ex res. I've seen Racing Logic in Australia, however I'm not sure what the quality is like. Not sure if anyone has used or come across them before?

Are there no other manufactures out there that offer decent damped coilovers for road use?

Proflex is about 1k a corner.

Am just going to put on standard coilovers and look into it after my car is built.

It's just trying to find a decent compromise on quality and something that will ride UK roads well.

Spoke to the guy on the Ohlins stand at the autosport show at the weekend, they will do a custom dfv coilover set up for approx. £3000 +VAT. Which may sound a lot but the quality is awesome (2 year corrosion warranty etc.)

Good suspension, you can feel the ride quality over shitty Teins, Bc etc. We backed to back them with Tein ss and it is literally a night & day difference, just soaks up potholes etc, but still feels firm with minimal roll on the road, really nice, had them on at Brands and Snetterton with ad08's and felt good also. They aren't a full on track setup (hence the name obviously), but imo it's as good as it gets for a multipurpose road/track car.
