Hi All,

i'm currently in the throws of contemplation where I feel that I need to part with my Pulsar. I've owned it for 4 years now and enjoyed many highs and probably just as many lows. As said, this is a contemplation thread but I'm at a point now where I'm not sure i can keep spending money on it- I should really be enjoying it, having just spent another considerable amount fixing the gearbox selector issues as well as installing brand new Tein Superstreets but I want to see if there is A. interest and B. what i can get for it. I bought it as a near standard car and carried out every modification myself. Milage on the shell is 115k KM and on the engine, 8k km.

So, spec is as follows;

Tein Superstreet coilovers with top mounts
Whiteline rear ARB with poly bushes
Polyurethane bushes front kit
Impul RS wheels refurbished and painted Orange
Yokohama Parada spec 2 195/50/15
Cusco front brace
Cusco rear brace

Brakes;
Wilwood dynalite 4 pot calipers
285mm discs
'e' pads
Goodridge braided hoses

Bodywork:
10mm bonnet lifters
Turini front bumper (not fitted currently)
Nissan headlight covers

Interior;
Willans Harness
Stripped rear
Greddy EGT gauge
Option motorsport gauges x3 (oil pressure, oil temp and boost)
OMP rally steering wheel in suede and dished
M's JDM gear knob
Clutch support bracket

Engine+ transmition;
Radtec radiator and intercooler
Mocal 16 row front mount oil cooler
custom 3" downpipe and 2.5" side exit exhaust by powerflow
GT2871r AR .64
Z32 MAF
TRUST air filter
SARD 700cc injectors
Walbro 255ltr fuel pump
Profec/sheepdog Atmospheric d/v
ACT extreme Organic Clutch

JE 8.5:1 Comp ratio forged pistons 86.5mm
Block re-bored to suit
Polished crank
Fully balanced and decked block with skimmed and blaanced fly
Fully reconditioned head, reshimmed etc
Genuine Nissan gasket set
Genuine Nissan timing chain set
Silkolene 10-50w oil used at oil changes 3-4k miles, systematically.
Managment;

Horsham Developments custom remap
Blitz SBDC-II set to 1.6 bar

Pics;

In it's hay-day;

Without Turini;

As it stands currently;

There are a few bad points too, all cosmetic- the car is, right now, mechanically perfect in almost everyway. Every significant part has been replaced, leaving very little un-touched. It has just sailed through an MOT, having needed a steering gaiter and the horn refitted. nothing else. The rear arches are still solid and the car was undersealed when i bought it. There are parking dings and a few other marks that need doing to make it mint. Also, the interior is a bit scuffy. I have a phase 1 set of heated front seats in there but they do not match the phase 2 door cars. The reason for this is that the drivers seat broke last year and i needed a repalcement.

As i say, it's not a a definate sale thread but I'm giving it some thought. I haven't driven it is a long time and imagine that if i did, I'd probably want to keep it so this may change.

As for a price... Who knows. They seem to go for such differing prices that I honestly cannot put a price on it so heres me asking; does anyone have an opinion on a price? I know it's insured value and i definately know its cost..!

Thanks all.

Power has not been determined with all the latest work. There is a dyno graph on here from 2008 when the car was largly standard bar, the basics (exhaust, boost controller, filter, intercooler etc) where it made 313 and 296ft lb at 0.9 bar. We made attempts to push for more but the clutch was the weak point when we got to this power. About 6 months after this the ring lands on number 1 and 4 let go. this was when i began the latest work (forged etc). So no, power figures don't exist and I'm not about to be 'one of those' who make wild claims. That said, it is/was vastly quicker than it was prior to the work and by vastly I mean VASTLY- the power delivery was something else and with the smaller varient of the 2871 it pulled like there was a rocket up it's arse. I have very little to do a direct comparison with but I loved it.

Price is still difficult as I have no idea what it's worth. I could slap a price tag onto it but whether or not it's realistic, I have no idea, hence asking for opinions.

I'll try to dig out an engine bay pic- I think i have one but it's not particularly great.

It's a lovely looking car mate, If you aren't in any rush to sell, I'd wait till april or later and wouldn't take a penny less than £4K, if you go for a power run (£50 max) you'll get some A4 pieces of paper which the cock wavers will love and they'll make it easier for you to sell the car. I know, it's stupid!

I read that as "make him an offer", and you may just need a little patience.

Sorry all, I've been avoiding the issue as I'm, still very much trying to think of a way to keep the thing.

I can't believe it another GTI-R owner selling up!
I've got to come back to the real work. It was an absolute blast to own and I'd have another again but right now, I should be looking for a car that wont be quite so demanding on my wallet. And It kicked me hard there on a number of occasions..!

In regards to a price, I know where I want to go from here so, with the body work issues considered and the huge amount of money spent, I couldn't let it go for any less than £5,000 as it stands. I will be looking to get it on the road in the very near future and will be servicing it and throwing some new shoes on it at the same time. If I get the bodywork up to spec, then I'd be looking for more but I'm still working on getting some decent prices on the work. Some might consider 5k a lot for it as it stands but I think most would struggle to build the same car for twice that. I have also considered breaking it though that isn't currently feasible.

If you have any more questions or would like to discuss it further, PM me or e-mail me and I'll try to reply with a phone number.

Cheers.
