Before you sell Your R

Just thought i'd share my littke story with you lot, as some of you may know i had a pulsar 366bhp cant remeber the torque figure, nicely rebuilt by Hiteq. Anyway i got bored and wanted to move on to bigger and better things so i bought a R33 GTR skyline , this was found to be a ringer but even still unless you spend 100k on it i couldnt see it matching my R, so that was taken away, by the police.. So i got an Evo 4. Didnt like that and the diff went 3 days later and i sold it on cheap. So by now i'd had enough of cars and settled with my little fiesta. 3 months past and i went out in tails scooby and i thought i wana fast car again. So i started looking for a Pulsar, none came up that i wanted i missed chriss car by a few months so i bought an Escort cossie. This car looks great but last night i got anilalated by another cossie. My escort is 388bhp and 390ibft torque and this car done me from the lights and my gear change was all over the place and i couldnt catch him to save my life. On my slow drive in shame back home all i was thinking is I WISH I STILL HAD MY GTIR no one ever wanted to race that round my way, honest to god eveyone hid from my GtiR now i'm being hunted by the people that hid
I WANT MY CAR BACK

Just thought i'd share it so when your about to sell ur car for a better faster one think again.

I know what you mean, I have got an evo 6 now running about 300bhp, fast yes, but if i see a gti-r i will not race as i even think my old fwd gti-r is quicker than this evo.
My old Gti-r certainly is.
But the evo has the looks and is much more refinded.
Its for crusing not brusing, the Pulsar yes was a great car but each journey i prayed it didn't break.
I want the Evo std not for racing but if i had the evo neaer 400bhp i will expect it to be very fast

The thing is in my Pulsar at the lights or wherever its performance filled me with confidence, i thought to myself here we go lets blow them away, In the Escort last night i saw the 3dr cossie at the red lights ahead and i was preying the lights i was approaching turned to red so i wouldnt line up against him.

I remember when Cossies weren't out long, 350bhp eas quite alot but I never saw one tested that could go quicker than 12.9 on the 1/4, that's 1bar territory for a Gtir. I like the Escort Cosworths, but the only play I had with one I drove round it like it was stationary and that was when I only had 246bhp.

that cossie you bought was lovely though. its a shame as you had a cracking R too, only to have this skyline problem (did you ever get your money back btw? )

im surprised you never had that RWD cossie off the lights though :(

Hey at least it was another cossie. Don't worry, it must have been pushing big power.
Didn't you chat to him?
If i saw another Evo at the lights i'll chat not race. Lol

My gtir was sold to Gtir_dave he's only made 6 posts so he's not on here much.

I suppose i'm being a bit hard on myself as i approached the lights it was red the second i stopped next to him it went green so had no time to prepare.

I saw the car at the ace cafe totally stripped out .

That must be one of the gayest comments ive ever heard :wuss:

Whats the point of buying a car like an Evo just for cruising, talk about waste of a car  That sort of car (nomatter what power its got before you start moaning about only 300bhp ) is just crying out to be spanked (your speciality ;-) ) on a B road or round a track  They may not be as raw to drive as an R but still should be driven properly and not just used for posing down your local mcdonalds :mong:

Actually thinking about it ive been very stupid  By cruising i thought he meant down mcdonalds etc  Im pretty sure he was on about the other sort of 'cruising' ie in the :fight2: sense of the word

do you mean its better for frequenting hampstead heath or clapham common of an evening ?

tbh, i would've thought the gtir would make a better 'cruising' vehicle as with the rear seats removed theres plenty of room for steve mc'fadden and a couple of trannies to roll about in the back whilst you knock one out peaking through the rear quarter glass..

not that i've given that situation much thought

Problem is Escort Cossie's look the bees nees, everyone will want to race you, and everyone knows what they are.

In the 7 years of owning a Pulsar I know a lot of people who would like to go back to one, but then I know a few you wouldn't either. Swings and roundabouts.

Chris, get yourself to Santapod on a RWYB day and get practicing to see what she'll do. You can be wasted by a lot less powerfull cars in any car, if they get the jump, your not ready, poor gear changing etc. Having said that Cossie's can be all states of tune these days, in fact most people who have stuck with them instead of evos etc may well have done sh't loads to it, it could of easily been over 500+ with £ spent on it.

Get reading the latest copy of Peformance tuner where they put a very mild 280bhp Escort Cossie (the only yellow one ever made by Ford) against a standard Focus RS and ST, and they really rate it as a drivers cars above them. Took a few days of driving the North Wales roads but they got use to it, its not all about straightline traffic lights and big bhp (even though you have more than enough).

Take a drive up to Bedfordshire and enjoy some of the roads up here!

evo's designed for cruising???? wtf!?

evo is a road going rally car, fair enough they arent the quickest cars around when stock but they are built to be driven fast, not to poodle about in looking like vin diesel.
