After the great success of Modified Live last year at Snetterton , we've made 09' a two part deal, the first at Oulton on 25 April and the last at Snetterton in 11 October.

Autoglym step up and take over the polishing side of things with a brand spanking new competition 'Best in Scene'. The show and shine has been turned upside down, shook about and
turned into an inspiring competition with prizes & cred for grabs, polishers and car nuts from all over the country will be fighting it out to take the top trophy & prizes

With so many different trends, styles and tastes in the UK right now 'Best in Scene' will take these show cars, break them down into categories where they will get the attention & the credit they deserve in their own right. As well as a cash prize for the best car of the whole show, a trophy will be awarded to the 'Best in Scene' in each of the following categories:-

DUB - Big rims, Big Bling, USA based styling and ICE.

EURO - Euro Style all the way, smooth bodywork, subtle styling, small rims, stretched rubber.

JDM - Pure JDM heaven, Tokyo style.

OEM - How clean is clean, factory standard OEM, straight out the showroom type cars.

RETRO / CLASSIC - Pre 93 Retro rides, Old skool, Retro Ford or even a classic.

UK HERE & NOW - Representing what’s hot and happening in the UK right now, full on hot body styling, ear popping ICE, trick paint, this is you.

UK FUTURE - Trend setting mould breaking future visions.

LOWRIDERS - Low riding Yank tanks rolling double low to the black stuff with a bounce.

This is about a month away now - is anyone going?
I'm very tempted because Oulton Park is so close to Chester (and Chester is so close to Hawarden)... It'll be like a NW meet (I've already mentioned to Andy that I'm interested if there'll be someone to hold my hand)!

I'll be there, but not in the shed. I know one of the competitors in the EDC this year so I'll be bringing my helmet for a ride out (fingers crossed)

I think Andy was doing a stand, but it’s not with the OC, might be worth a PM and have a word if thats your game? :thumb:

Other than that we could all meet up at some point for a gas and moan about other cars that are better than our own ;-)

Yeah! - I think Octane Junkies will be there (I don't know if they'll have a stand). Maybe I'll just pretend that my old girl is with them; it is slightly modified after all. I've let Andy know that I want to go already.

(fubar) Andy, can you get other people a go? I was looking at the drift taxis and thinking I'd be in that.

Can't really drift a Pulsar, but I used to get my Skyline sideways all the time... you just squeeze the power as you're going round the corner, the back lights up, and you steer into it! I'm not a drifter, but in a Skyline it's easy enough that even my wife has done it (although generally not intentionally). Given that I learnt to drive in Australia, I'm used to having big engines in RWD cars that swing like a pendulum around the corners... the understeer on the Pulsar still catches me out.

I have a full-face motorcycle helmet (I think it's this one, but an older design); will that do for track work? - I'm not really expecting that your mate would be willing to give everyone you know a ride, but there's no harm in asking.

I'm starting to get excited about this now, can you tell? Racing Trucks!? I haven't seen them since I left Australia either - I saw one overtake another by drifting the corner once... It's just a pity they can't have the Bandag Bullet!

I'll certainly ask him. I know it’s an "on the day" thing, so I’m taking my helmet in case I get lucky

I use an open faced (rally) helmet and balaclava, as long as its meets basic impact BS/EC reg's it should be fine.

If not Motorsport Vision have helmets you could borrow :thumb:

You never know your luck; maybe I'll find someone who's dazzled by my knowledge of the R33 GTS-T, and will want to show me theirs on the track... The chances aren't really very good, but it takes up no space in the car and I'd rather where my own than a rental.
Plus if people see a helmet in my car they'll think that I'm obviously hot sh1t and not look too closely at the rust! :p

Sounds like just the five (?) of us; there wasn't really any interest on the other site either.

Funny really, given how excited people get about some of the other shows.... I guess it must just be too bleak and northern for them!

One week to go (this is my way of bumping the thread to generate more interest).

I promise that there'll be no whippets or flat caps! (Disclaimer: I can't actually promise that; I have no idea what other people will do. I'm fairly certain that nobody will bring their whippets or wear a flat cap... unless it's an A'Pexi or HKS hat I guess, but they don't usually come in a flat cap.)

I've even been trying to clean my engine bay up a little... and bought an HKS SQV (the old one, not the SSQV)... I may have gone into an eBay buying frenzy and bought a whole load of sh!t that I don't need; that's how excited I am!

Anyone else coming to this event?

Looks like I'll be up at the crack of dawn due to the car I'm going in is on the stands and has to be in before the main crowds.

Looks like a Relentless breakfast again!

Good question.

Mr Andy has my money, and I'm assuming he's got my ticket... that is if he hasn't used my money to finance his bid for EVO ownership!

Where and when do I need to be; I trawled Octane Junkies, but couldn't see any posts about it.

This is assuming that I've got my clutch slave cylinder in too...

No more waffling for today. ;-)
