Id be taking the pistons out anyway jus to put a fresh set of rings on, the engine been going for five years now at 400hp with plenty of hard road use and a good few track days thrown in.
ive been thinking alot about doing this over the last few days and thinking mabe i should just rebuild the...
Sorry just re read your comment so id be best to get the pistons out and measure the cut outs? And decide on cams from there?
So what else do i need do i need custom inlet or do i use the inlet from the v.e head?
Im planning on doing the v.e conversion then adding the larger turbo couple of months down the line, i dont want to skint myself like i used to years ago but i can afford it all in stages if you see what i mean.
so my my pistons already have the cut outs as oposed to a dish like most, my main...
Im thinking about doing a partial rebuild on my engine rings, shells etc.
i have the old school j.e pistons with valve cut outs in top of piston.
ive been out the game for a while but want to get back into it and from memory these are good pistons to do a v.e conversion with?
What is needed to...
So are you saying your base timing was out then? And altering it made the ecu drop the ign timing drop with revs consistently ???
i would of thought it would be your laptop not updating quick enough to keep up? Rather than the ecu ? Or have i mis read what you are saying
Yeah if u just start it from cold and let it idle does it struggle to be to come off cold start and thats where the hunting begins?
it wont be ignition related so forget that route
If its hunting and running as you say i bet it will be the valve that sits under the inlet manifold think its called the iac valve pig to change, but ive had it cause exactly the same issue on my car
If your worried that a butterfly is stuck open, and u have a boost/vacuum gauge lying about take of the caps on the throttle body one at a time connect the gauge and see if you get vacuum of every cylinder.
To be honest tho the nut that joins the linkage came loose on mine so two would open...
It would cause high oil pressure in the turbo and result in failed seals and you would have loads of blue smoke if it was blocked, as red says it would not cause high engine oil pressure i can see what your trying to do i do consider mine a bit of a 'weak point'.
I burred a couple mil off of one of the transfer case 'cooling fins' and i can slide my transfer box straight off, which inturn makes the clutch a 45 min job:-D
If your going white really you have to get the inside painted and under bonnet or as fast guy says it will look half a job.
i think in black there subtle and white there lairy.
