Looking to upgrade the master brake cylinder while the car is being rebuilt. I have upgraded the hoses, brake calipers and discs to the evo2 set up so would like to finish the job off.
Can anyone recommend a master brake cylinder upgrade? Part Nos always good as well when it comes to ebay!
Yes the crank runs clockwise so far left or last mark on the pulley, when you put a timing light on it you will see it as the mark closest to the fire wall. Give the crank pulley a good clean so you can see the marks.
From memory I don't think you can use this to set the timing. The procedure for checking the timing is to get the car fully up to temp stop the car and remove the tps connector. Restart the car and test with a timing light. Removing the tps stops the ECU from altering the timing while idling...
If this fella has a DMM with a probe.....
I'd have thought it cheaper just to replace both the sender and ECT sensor. There are inexpensive version of consult that will give you engine parameters.
I've had the gauge giving me one reading and Software giving me another on mine. I had already...
Sorry i dont know what this means. If this was my car I would replace ect sensor, gauge sender and get a copy of nissan data scan so I can get an idea of what the ecu is seeing ( ect sensor). Data scan will also tell you if the ecu has asked for the fans to come on.
Yes I have a consult connector (can't see any on ebay) which I have then connected to a serial/usb adaptor. I then use Nissan Data Scan to see the engine parameters: http://www.nissandatascan.com/
If you pull off the ECT connector the fans will run all the time as the ECU has no idea what temp...
If this is with the Engine oil temp approx 80C then this looks fine to me (fans not running). I use a programme called Nissan Data Scan which will tell you the temp the ECU is seeing via the engine coolant temp sensor.
You need to open the bleed bolt on the stat housing when filling the system. once coolant starts to run out with no air in it close this off and continue to fill the system until it is full which is something like 5 liters . The manual gives you a diagram and shows you where to put a paper clip...
I think there may be a power steering switch which when activated lets the ecu know to open up a valve to let more air into the engine to maintain a good idle etc. should be in the manual.
Unfortunately this hose is leaking at the reservoir end. Can I swap the pipe out with an ordinary vac hose? Can I use a normal jubilee clip at this end as it is not on the high pressure side?
With the TPS plugged in you will never know what the base ignition is as the ECU will be altering the ignition point to maintain a stable idle.
As far as I can remember and I had a quick look in the workshop manual (but can't find the page) 20 deg is the last mark on the crankshaft pulley (The...
You have got the car up to temp, turned the ignition off, pulled the tps plug and restarted the car before touching the distributor? what procedure are you using?
Can also be done with nissan datascan via laptop.
Fault code showed MAF but don't bring on engine check light for some reason. I've swapped out the MAF with help from Scott @ Warpspeed and cleaned up as many earths as looks possible. Fault stays off and no misfiring but I need to run the car for a good few journey's before I say this one is...
