To be far , cosworth gaskets have a really good reputation . it sounds more like the block or head are not flat and true .

It is possible to remove the head with engine in the car , may be worth removing checking surfaces etc. check the gasket also then re-fit as per red readings info .

I had these in my engine , When I emailed them they just said a max of 12.5mm as per their cams.
