    timing chain guides

Yes, there's a tensioner round the back of it that holds the guide in place both with a spring and using oil pressure. Once the engine's running the oil pressure in the tensioner should push the chain guide into the correct position and prevent it moving, but with the engine off (and the...

    Misfire above 4k rpm

Just been dealing with a similar issue myself - turns out the coil lead was knackered. Most likely going to be something on the ignition side, so plugs, dizzy cap or leads (could be coil or amplifier but less likely I'd have thought....)

Coil lead - where can I get one?

Morning chaps, Need a new coil lead as I suspect mine is on the way out, but the local Nissan dealership are quoting a 3-4 week wait on them - anyone know of anywhere in the East London area that I can get one quickly? Doesn't have to be a genuine Nissan part, just decent quality that'll work...

    The mysterious Blitz Access ECU.....

Cool, my timing strobe should arrive tomorrow so I'll get the Blitz plugged back in and set it up properly. Stand by for tales of amazement or disaster, lol

    The mysterious Blitz Access ECU.....

Hmm, OK, something to think about then - cheers. I'll have a go at running it back-to-back with the standard ECU and see if I can make an easy comparison. So running on 98/99ron fuel, maybe set the base timing to 17-18 degrees btdc instead of the standard 20? Obviously I'm not asking anyone...

    The mysterious Blitz Access ECU.....

Gents, Does anyone know what benefits these give over the standard ECU on the 'R? There seems to be a reasonable amount of knowledge floating around regarding the Mines ECU, but I can't find any details about the Blitz offering. My Pulsar had one of these fitted when I bought it (along with a...

Just in case anyone needs replacement exhaust manifold studs......

I didn't fancy paying Nissan full whack for a set, and after a bit of searching I found that Horsham Developments do some uprated ones at £2.50 a pop: http://www.h-dev.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=78_169_409_419_427&products_id=25047&osCsid=ffc7898478b4854b34725617c3100002 Just need to source...

    Kent Cams - timing up

Ignore the above - Cam timing is spot on so far as the chain is concerned. It just turns out that engines don't start so well when ignition leads 2 and 3 are the wrong way round... Serves me right for working on it in the dark, lol Anyway, all back together, went out to get some fuel in it...

    Kent Cams - timing up

So on a standard, non-adjustable pulley set, should I position the cams as per standard ones (ie: crank at TDC, keyways at 10 and 12, 20 chain pins between pulley markers), or will it be so different that the timing will be more than a tooth out from this? I've got them in the standard way at...

Is the GTIR being undersold by owners?

A car's only worth what people are willing to pay for it - sadly with the Pulsar that's not very much ;-) You can put it up for sale at whatever price you like, but the market will dictate what it eventually sells for.

Helicoil size for Cam Cap bolts?

Chaps, need a quick bit of info: Does anyone know what size helicoil is needed for the cam cap bolts? I've got a hunch it's M6 x 1, but I couldn't swear to it. All answers gratefully received! (ideally the right one though, lol) Many thanks in advance Alex

    Kent Cams - timing up

I've had another look, and I don't think it will have dropped - it looks like the chain is in contact with pretty much 2/3 to 3/4 of the bottom pulley anyway, so the teeth wouldn't let the chain drop unless I'm reeeaaaally unlucky.Which I have been known to be of course, lol. I can turn the...
