30th Anniversary meet?

As above, anybody got any ideas for an event we could attend? Could we even think about a standalone meet?

Attendance to previous events has been poor to say the least so personally I'm wary about trying to organise anything.

I'd like to go to Retro Gathering at Shelsley Walsh as it's a great atmosphere and track ready cars can run up the hill whilst the rest can park up in the field so I think it would appeal to everyone..

If something is going to happen can we start making arrangements soon to get it set in stone?

Also can we throw out an invite to all clubs/forums? Discussions maybe need to be had with other clubs event organisers to start combining plans if possible?

Think Retro Gathering could be a good choice - location is good and prep if you want to run the hill not too PITA for people who are not track regulars. Silverstone Classic could be another but like you say attendance wasn't great at 25. The Simply Japanese Rally runs out of Beaulieu, but thats a long way south and theres nowhere really anywhere to run the cars.

I think the lack of attendance is partially down to the lack of working cars, us included. Getting the R fixed just isn't on our list of to do and hasn't been for the past few years due to a change of jobs, a baby, looking to move house etc. If our R was working we'd be there like a flash.

It's so depressing that it isn't working but life just takes over and I know this is the case for many R owners:pensive:

Aye, that's why I started this thread...Give everyone a wee poke :tonguewink:

Keep it at a central location so travel is more reasonable for everyone. Somewhere in the midlands I imagine, possibly Japshow at Silverstone (or is that still too south for the northerners)? Oh and defo combine with other groups/forums/clubs

Yes.

Mine is on axle stands waiting for me to finish working on it... whilst the rear arches slowly rot away and lichen grows on the bonnet. - If I don't sort it relatively soon it's in danger of being sold for scrap by my wife.

It just seems like I never find the time, or when I do have the time it's pissing down with rain and I'm not willing to lie on my back in the drive when it's raining.

Ants lucky that his dad hasn't picked the R up and scrapped it as he's sick of hearing about the lack of work that's not been done on it. If I was to scrap it, I'd be served divorce papers :unamused:.

We don't have the space to work on the R here and ant doesn't have the tools here either so he's stuck when it comes to working on it, that and not having the time....now that we've got another bambino on the way.

Anyway, let's hope some other people are in a better position then we are for the 30th meet.
