Unwanted shells - Look Here Before You Scrap

If anyone has shell's that they are thinking of scrapping please contact me first to see if it can be saved so someone else can keep another on the road......even if they can't be saved I could still save sections for use on other members cars thereby keeping restoration costs down.

I hate seeing cars being scrapped and although I realise the cost of restoring them is too much for most people unless they plan on keeping the car for years it's still a shame to see them go to waste.

Unforunately I can't pay for shell's but at least you would know you are helping to keep more on the road and viable for years to come.

I do need to make a living but I would restore shells when I am quiet and then offer them to club members first as cheap as I could so they could then build them up and hopefully keep them on the road for years to come.

Sorry to butt in here but I have to say that's the best thing I've heard in ages, think it's brilliant there is still someone with enough passion (and the ability with a welder) to be willing to do this and save some cars, good on you.

You get sweeties for scrap aswell so as well to donate to a VERY good cause, hope you get a few cars saved.

Agreed. - Probably a bit more than sweeties, but definitely worth a lot more to someone else to keep their car on the road.

I know it's generally that the arches are so far gone that it's not worth pouring money in to repairing them, but every now and then there's something else.

There is a mint shell in a scrappy by me. I was gutted to see it in there. No rust on the arches arch, doesn't look like it's had any paint. It's a shame it ended up there but is probably too much work to save. Plus they wouldn't give it away

No, I don't have any good ones, just ones needing welding.
Probably better starting another thread asking.

I have recently got a wagon but haven't had the time to weld it up for an mot, once I've done that I'd be able to collect it myself.
How long are you able to keep it where it is?

Afraid not, I've been so busy welding them up I haven't had the time to work on the shells I have or get my wagon on the road.
Folk are starting to ask money for the shells now which doesn't help, very few realise just how much work is involved in saving a shell properly, plus very few people are willing to pay that money for a shell..
As times goes on it's looking more like I'll need to build them up as running cars to sell and hopefully make enough on them to buy more cars to save...

Did you ever sort some stronger sills? I thought I remember you saying somewhere you were going to make some?
PS How much to save a shell?
