Anyone own GTiRB?

Been doing some research, might have found a GTiRB on mainland Japn for sale. Seems to be a greenish/grey color as well. Low kms etc.

Does anyone actually own one? How much better is it really than the GTiRA? Any downsides on owning one? It's what I set out for initially but the gents at the dealer didn't set me up too well. Thanks!

Rb in winter green very very rare, only real difference was an rb was a base model car with a short and close ratio gearbox after that it was down to the options ticked for suspension, diffs ,roll cage etc .

The car is at a private dealer on mainland. Short of pulling the entire VIN (may not be able to get) any way to telling if the car is a GTiRB?

I thought they (B model) all came with the lsd front differential standard...

Nope, mine had an open front diff.

No electric windows and base model seats can be a sign it's an RB short of having the vin number.

It looks identical to mine, minus the door and console pads. I'm figuring it's a GTiRA. Shame, I love the color, wouldve been worth it.

Black door mirrors are usually a sign of it being an RB (obviously black cars will have black mirrors either way lol)

I guess that means there's perceived value in them if someone would try to fake it?

I own a black 1990 GTi-RB, currently looking to sell, will export worldwide. You can see some pictures here, I've never been in an RA but have owned quite a few cars from an E39A VR4 to a BNR32, as well as my current CT9A E8. The short gear ratio help the car pick ip speed fast, the last gear is a long one and doesn't seem to lose power till after 5k RPMs, faster than the GVR4 on acceleration and top, even accel through 1st/2nd with the Evo, the R32 was still the fastest all around.

What top speed does yours get, RB 5th should be around 123mph, maybe showing 130ish on the clock.
Also is that a miss-type? It shouldn't start losing power until after around 62-6400rpm

I think i managed to record 127 mph once but that was just before the rod exited the side if the engine .

I actually hated everything about that car apart from the handling because it had a front LSD, i was glad when it blew up.

You soon get sick to death of the high rev whine, long trips are a nightmare. But if its just for track days then I'm sure it would fine but i still think even then the gearing isn't much good, 1st, 2nd gear are hopeless.

In what way? They certainly get you off the line fast. :) but only having 5th available after about 80mph is a bit of a bind.

I prefer the rb box, especially running a bit of boost through it. I've still got 1 rb box sitting, they are hard to find now, must be worth a pretty pennies now.

1st and 2nd gear just come and go so quickly, its kind of wearing after a while. I much prefer something a bit more relaxing i find the quaife to be just about perfect.

I don't think but c
Is first not the same ratio in both boxes?...
.

I don't think so but i could easily be wrong, second gear definitely isn't the same, second gear is more of an issue than first though, well for me anyway.

All i remember and its been over 20 years now is i didn't like the box at all, it ruined the driving experience for me personally.
