GOOD NEWS EVERYBODY!

The GTIROC has been formally invited back by Silverstone Classic this year to display our cars at their 2016 show.
It seems that we made some sort of impression as I've had two separate e-mails, one generic and one personal from the organisers.

Andrew

Trust that Christmas was kind to you and may I wish you a safe and prosperous 2016.

As you will be aware car club registration for this year’s Silverstone Classic are now open.
We were impressed with your Nissan Pulsar GTIR owners stand and a number of positive comments about your club have been mentioned in post classic meetings.
We would like to offer your club an display area and see if your club would be interested in joining us again?

If you are intending to register ....blah blah blah! (edited out the registration process)

Regards

Neil
Granted were not celebrating anything this year (apart from more rust), however I was interested to see if people would be interested in attending this year and try to up the numbers from last year?

If people want to make a weekend out of it they are more than welcome and I can add details of camping!

If you wish to attend the Saturday only that's not a problem at all!

Details are as follows:

With its first-ever 100,000 attendance, more than 1,000 race entries, an unprecedented number of car club displays and in excess of £5m of cars sold at auction, last year’s special 25th anniversary Silverstone Classic was another massive record-breaker.

Nowhere will you get to see so many famous and legendary marques lovingly maintained and displayed by their owners. Many car clubs now make the Silverstone Classic their main annual club event. The sheer scale of these displays – some 10,000 cars in 2015 - is a landmark feature of the Silverstone Classic.

What we get:
  • Allocated club display area on the infield of the circuit, including space for club marquee
  • Dedicated booking code for all members giving them access to the Car Club Display Package - fantastic deals that include 2 x Adult Event Tickets and an infield vehicle display pass
  • 10% discount on group bookings of Clubhouse Hospitality
  • Official Silverstone Classic signage displaying your car club name (for 10 cars +)
  • Name and short descriptive entry of your club in the event programme

About the stand area:

The Car Club Display Packages are fantastic deals that include two adult general admission Event Tickets and an infield vehicle display pass, allowing you to display your car on your club’s stand inside the heart of the event.

Terms and Conditions
  • The packages include TWO general admission Event Tickets and ONE infield vehicle display pass for your club display area.
  • These can only be purchased by using the booking code dedicated to each individual car club. (Speak to Fubar Andy)
  • Infield vehicle display passes, issued as part of a car club display package, are for display vehicles only and are only valid for parking within the designated car club display area. Any vehicle parked outside their display area is liable to be removed.
  • Given the large public spectator levels at the Silverstone Classic, display vehicle movements on the infield are restricted to outside of 10.00 to 17.00 hrs. Therefore, to ensure that you gain access to your club stand, we request that you arrive before 10.00 hrs and do not leave before 17.00 hrs, otherwise you may be required to park in the public car park. The only exception to this ruling is for vehicles entered into any track parade; these vehicles will receive written instructions from the event organisers regarding signing on, track assembly area, timings, etc. prior to the event.
  • When booking, car club members will be asked for the make, model and registration number of the vehicle they intend displaying at the event. The infield vehicle display pass will display this information along with the name of the car club and so will only be valid for the vehicle that has been registered. This rule is in place to ensure that only the right classic cars are displayed to best represent the car club. If you need to change your vehicle details for any reason, the procedure to do so is very simple. It needs to be done by the person who made the original booking and is explained to the ticket purchaser in their booking confirmation email.
  • If a member does not arrive in the correct vehicle for the club, they must park in the public parking outside the circuit which is free of charge.
  • Infield display space cannot be guaranteed and is subject to weather and ground conditions. Car Club Display areas are therefore subject to change and, in extenuating circumstances, may result in parking in car parks outside the payline.

Classic Car Clubs Display Package

The table below explains the Classic Car Club Display Package ticket offer prices that are uniquely available to car club members.

The package includes two Event Tickets and one infield vehicle display pass for your members’ allocated club display area. These can only be purchased by using the booking code dedicated to each individual car club. Ticket prices include a booking fee but a transaction fee per order will be applicable. Group bookings are available. This offer is only available until 31st May 2015.

Additional information

We are already registered as "Nissan GTiR Owners Club" as per last year.

We have around 30 spaces to fill, however its not a problem if its less or more!

This is the second biggest event put on by Silverstone only the F1 is bigger than this. The MASSIVE variety of cars that are on show and the racing that's put on is really good, whether you want to see the old 90's Touring Cars (BTCC) Classic Spec C Le Mans cars racing at dusk (Silk Cut Jag) with glowing discs and exhausts licking out massive flames. Classic F1 cars...which are LOUD AS FU or some pre 66 race cars, there is something for everyone!

There is so much to see and do I never got round it all in the weekend.

This is also a family based event, so if you want to bring the kids, wife etc there is loads for them to do to!

With regards to tickets, if people want to come for the weekend or just one day (Saturday would be the best) I'm not fussed, it would be great to see everyone come along and support the GTiR brand.

If you are interested or want to come post below and I'll answer or help as much as possible.

N.B Last year I got roped into helping by the FiA/HSCC on the Saturday so didn't get to see many people, however this year I'm NOT officiating the event as I CBA and I want to enjoy the event with my GTiR (if I can get it back on the road asap).

Post up if you would be interested in attending this year?

I'm keen, but I really would like to sort some of my bodywork issues out before putting it on the stand again. - Mine was definitely the scabbiest car there... but on the upside it did make it there and back with the only issue being a whining noise from the other side of the car every time I tried to get on boost.

I'm planning on being there for the weekend, hopefully with my car and 2 or more cars I've built depending on owners.

Would we get more interest in Oulton Park? In which case that's the winner. - I need to get mine through an MOT, which probably means getting some welding done on the rear arches including the strut tower on one side.

I've had another update regards the SC

We've still not had anyone book the "cheaper tariff" tickets.

You still have till 31st May 2016 to officially book normal price tickets.

I doubt we are going to get 10+ cars to this event unless a bunch of you suddenly decide you want to go?

We still have ZERO bookings for the event.

If you are seriously interested in attending on the Saturday then post up, otherwise I'll close the thread at the end of May (ticket closing date)

I say close it. - I did enjoy it when we went, but clearly the Gold Cup is more popular.

Is anybody going to this or is everybody saving themselves for Oulton?

I'm going up Thursday afternoon for the whole weekend but unfortunately it'll be in the works van not the Sunny:(

Nope, didn't bother to come down.

Traffic was horrific so I'm going down tonight when its quieter.

We were here fairly early this morning and traffic was bad then so hate to think what it was like later on.

Just enjoying the music now, definitely a good event:sunglasses:
