Can these still be bought from nissan, I know the gearbox bits are getting harder to come by.

Most parts can be bought, you cannot get end cases anymore and a few other assorted parts for the gearboxes....as for most recent prices I have ordered a lot of internal parts for the gearboxes so I can let you know when I get the bill.

what are we going to do when Nissan stop supplying parts!

cant see many third party manufactures making them, although I guess for the right price

My Cars been garaged since 2008ish, will i still be able to service it in 10 years time, say?

This is the issue, as a club we should be making sure we have this stuff covered. Parts like panels, master cylinders etc all that stuff that you cant get anymore. We should be making the effort to source or get bits made up for the good of everyone. It's no good just 1 or 2 people doing it, the club as a whole would make it worth while and cheaper for companies to refurb or make parts for us.

I intend to start buying spare stuff that might be hard to find in the future, I'd of thought it wouldn't be to hard to have gearbox stuff made in small batches there are a lot of companies out there that make that kind of stuff, I doubt there is much difference between these parts on a lot of cars some might even cross over we just need to find out what works.

Maybe now that the average GTI-R owner is not a chav we might actually have a chance of the club being able to organize stuff if it gets a bit more supported by us the owners, We need to put our hands in our pockets and not leave it to just a few have to take the financial hit.

Some of that might have been down to the financial issues that's we've had over the last few years. Hopefully as more jobs and the economy grows people will have more cash to splash, develop and spend looking after these cars

As you mentioned, the chav clientele seems to have dropped, so that will help too!

I've just bought myself 2 spare gearboxes and transfer boxes, I thought it might be a wise move for keeping the car going in the future. I'm not sure if they are actually going to be any good inside but I didn't pay a great deal for them.

Good move, all bearings, syncros, syncro enegiser springs, etc are still available, some of the actual gears are not anymore, there are a few members around that have many many gearboxes and parts and the ability to rebuild them, any competent mechanic should be able to rebuild the gearbox if it is not too damaged but miracles should not be expected as they are very old now and actually quite agricultural by design.

I've noticed recently these are harder to come buy, i must have 3 or 4 boxes plus spares and I'm going to keep a hold of them before they dry up .

Between all the aftermarket suppliers and nissan it will not be an issue for years to get gearbox parts, cases will be an issue eventually but parts no due to the interchangeability between a certain front wheel drive gearbox ,remember some members on here have amassed many gearbox parts as well and have the ability to repair them and as long as all bearings are available they can continue to be built....and all the bearings are still available as well as selector forks, and pretty much all the consumable parts like seals ,syncro hubs and so on,
