Hi all...Whats the best prop shaft to get? Been offered a alloy one or a carbon one.Carbon one is more expensive but just a few hundred. Anyone experienced or heard of any problems etc?

Also could I go for a one piece shaft? With one shaft that slides in and out around a inch?
Maybe around 3.5" OD

I will remove mine tomorrow and size it up.

What I do need it the overall length of the shaft from the rear diff to the transfer box. I removed my engine etc today so cant get a size now.
If some one has there car on a lift? Could you get a size.

I'm sure I read something a year or more ago about one piece prop shafts being a bad idea, but I can't remember where it was now.
I personally would go for carbon as it should be lighter, but if money was an issue......
How much are they these days

Will this be a bolt on prop or will you have to redrill the front/rear diff flanges to accept?

Danny might know something stu i mentioned it a while back as a lad local has on. You might remember his two cars for sale a while back (ferguson) someone put a link up. I think the main issue but i could be wring was getting the bearing sorted

Oh yes. I remember those 2 cars now. I will see if I can find the thread again.

It would have to be two piece stu, the engine moves and so does the rear subframe so if you used one piece something will fail due to the stresses and movement.

Yep ok.

They are asking for sizes. Pcd of flanges etc.
Would it need to run on a bearing too hold it up?

get me the dimensions, like i said if it can be one ill do it. the one end will have over 1" of movement*if it has to be 2 piece i can do that also.*
