Well, I've got plans to put the AE86 off the road for a few months, i'll be taking it to BDC next month though. So I thought i'll get myself a runaround over the winter. I started looking for a diesel estate and things progressed badly from that point on

Subaru Legacy 3.0l R, Spec B - only 2 owners from new, UK car.

Can't believe I bought a Subaru - oh the shame :(

I think it's subarus take on an RS4 or so - it's spec'd a bit like a Porsche 911 Carerra 4! Besides, I was offered it at a steal and couldn't resist lol. It's got more toys than Santas grotto

Q cars certainty have their appeal, The fuel bill will be better than you think, my mid 90's 4.0 v8 will do 35+mpg (I will see 45+ on level road) on the motorway and 15mpg around town, averages out to around 20mpg for how I've been using it.

I expect with a more modern engine and less displacement it will probably be similar or better than your Gti-r.

a couple of progress pics - I tidied up some more of the engine bay, painted the top of the radiator in black again, also repainted the brackets that hold the rad on. one little job makes a big difference.

Finally started on the wheels, gave them a lick of paint - I had Gold or Red in my head, in the end I went for Gold and the brightest I could find! I have also fitted spacers to the rear wheels so they fill the arches better.

finished the front wheels today!

She is starting to take shape, couple of other bits to do then I'll be happy (for now)

she was mapped at 1.5 bar - it was a whole lot quicker than my old car which was a std tubby, 1.3 bar - made 335bhp. it was Russ who reckoned I was losing around 100bhp through the transmission!

But I do miss it already :(

the AE86 is keeping me busy though.
