Being scarce isn't enough, there needs to be demand as well.
Sadly I think it's fair to say the Pulsar/Sunny will never be a mainstream fantasy vehicle and, as such, prices will always lag behind what in my opinion are lesser cars.

I don't care if there are non on Pistonheads or eBay. They will never be a collectors item, but if you look after them, make them look tidy and keep it relatively standard from the outside, they will be more of a classic than a collectable.
A friend of mine as a CRX in his lock up, its not special, but his idea is to restore it, make it tidy, enjoy a drive out in it and take it to the odd show.
Its more of a "look back in time" at older sports cars than trying to make it into a collectors item!

Couldn't agree more mate, but the fact remains if Joe public doesn't know what it is he won't want one.....and that's enough to keep prices low unless you talk about specific cars being hunted by specific buyers.

Weird thing is the yanks and Scandinavians go mental for them, it's only us die hards that appreciate them, the rest of the uk is too hung up on 205 gtis and rotten saph cossies. In a way I do like the fact they are unknown but wouldn't it be good to get some fucking recognition from somewhere!!

I've had mine called a Starlet a couplle of times, just as well I quite like Starlet GT's
I see it as a positive thing. Hopefully the boy racer image will start to leave the car.

My old Calibra was (oddly) the most reliable car I've ever owned. Five MOT passes in a row without even blinking, and no major roadside blow-ups. It made it to 150,000 miles before I sold it and bought a Pulsar. Now I wish the same reliability record could be passed to my GTiR................ :doh:

Similar cars to the Pulsar though, in that none of them were mainstream cars to make the public conciousness. Realcarfans know and love them, but the man in the street isn't even aware of them.

the 323 was very similar to the gtir.the cavalier/calibra was a million times better than the cosworth was but for some reason the uk was obsessed with the cosworth.
always liked the starlet very nearly bought one a few times but never did think the look of it was its major downfall
