Looking to buy this R.. Advice please.

Seens as my pulsar was stolen couple of weeks back, and no luck finding it was looking for another. So i Seen this on pistonheads. Was looking for some advice. It looks bang on. Just wanted some more views.

Heres the link.. http://mobile.pistonheads.com/sales/3804621.htm

I am specifically looking for a 1994 model. Preferreably running good power. And solid engine. But for £3500 should i go for an older model but with more mods?

My R was not highly modded , just had the 1 bar mods, fmic etc.

Any advice would be apreciated.

Thanks.

Mo.

looks like a nice clean car,

BUT

this is just me, i'm always wary about cars that have cheep intercoolers, plus if he had been driving about with a turbo thats too big for the cars map he would of been starving the engine of fuel and fooking it, but im pretty sure the gtir turbo from turbo technics is pretty much the same as the standard turbo so there would be no need for a remap

Why not talk to Boby and save one of those cars he's got from being broken?

As above; I'm pretty sure that "hybrid" T28 is going to be a rebuilt standard unit with the 360 degree thrust bearing in it.

I'm pretty sure yellowstuff are road legal. Not that it really matters, the pads in my car aren't road legal.

As always with buying a car you never really know until you go look. Looks clean in images but proof is in the flesh. Ticks a few boxes but do hate those intercooler kits with awful pipe run & inner wing cutting plus cut front bumpers tend to lower price for me.

Id be changing them yelloe stuff pads for something else, i thought they weren't road legal?
It's Blue Stuff that's questionably road legal; they're the "endurance" pads. - Yellow stuff is still rated as "fast road", and I'd go with those over Red stuff.

cheap intercooler wouldnt bother me at all, looks a nice car, and you dont need a re map for the bigger turbo, just get the fueling checked and dont run more boost than the fueling can handle. my mate has a 3071 turbo at 1bar with standard injectors and maf and ecu

I am running a hybrid T28 and had it on a mines ecu - got it checked at 1.1 bar and it WAS running lean, maybe due to the quicker spool of the hybrid. As stated about cheap intercoolers, I really am struggling to understand why people are bothered about them, they do the job and do it well, the autobahn core is a really decent bit of kit.

I run yellows in one of my cars and all of the talk about them not working until they're warmed up is BS in my experience. The only drawback to yellows is they're quite a dusty pad, so if you have shiny and expensive wheels you'll spend a LOT of time cleaning them if you use EBC Yellows.

autobahn core is ok but pipe work & cutting of inner wings & pipe blocking brake cooling ducts is awful. cheap kit does not concern me but badly cut inner wings & bumper, bumper bar ect does ... Still looks like a worth while viewing though ...

Didn't someone test a load of intercoolers and said that the cheaper ones tend to have poor cooling efficiency; the temperature drop across them isn't as big as on the Forge unit for example?

Yeah that's true most eBay intercoolers suffer a lot of heat soak ect..imo for a good cheap cool run a EVO one as they work fantast and can handle up too 500bhp on a EVO before they need upgrading ect..I ran a hdi kit on my pulsar it was ok ish

Hi guys thanks for the comments. Im still looking for an R , and i have now come
Across 1 in autotrader , being sold by "bucks autos" they have 2 for sale, a winter green claiming 350bhp for £3695. And a black 1994 with 320bhp the spec list sounds wel worth it, and its in my price range also. @ £2995
Advert says thers plenty of reciepts etc, however i do not want to buying a lemon. So any advice would be appreciated. Does anyone know whos cars they are are? Have been through the OC? etc.

I will possibly make a trip down to see them asap.

Thanks guys.
