what mods for my r

What have you already got? - 330bhp is probably off the top of standard parts, so I'd suggest: bigger injectors (~500cc); Z32 MAF; different turbo (maybe); and an ECU upgrade/remap to drive the the new bits. A 3" elbow might help too.

You don't need new internals, and to be honest you might be able to get to 330bhp without all of the above, but my back-of-the-envelope calc is that the standard injectors are out of capacity past 300bhp so at the least you'd need the injectors and an ECU that recognises them.
I don't really know, but I suspect the standard T28 runs out of puff before 330bhp too... and if you put a bigger turbo on, the chances are you'll need a different MAF to read the airflow.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm terribly wrong.

a good standard maf and set of injectors will do that but most of them arent 100% any more as theyre old, and you will see that with a standard turbo. every cars different but i did 330 at 1.1 but also did 340 was lean so backed it off.

-boost controller
-air filter
-exhaust
-fmic
-bigger fuel pump
-nistune ecu

thats what i used to get 330.

dont forget to upgrade the brakes with the extra power

Sorry to hijack the thread but how far can you go (without losing reliability and driveability) without taking the engine apart other than for an uprated head gasket?

About 400bhp - the engine is really very strong, so you really need to be pushing for power before you have to start replacing the internals.

...although I could have that wrong too. I suspect my calculation for the injectors is an 80% duty cycle.

I don't mind changing injectors/turbos etc.....even an uprated head gasket would be acceptable, it's when you start changing pistons/cranks/bearings etc that I'd draw the line. That said, 400bhp is a LOT and I'd be happy with less than that but if more was fairly easily available then it'd be tempting.

As well as what pobody has said, its important that the fuelling is spot on. Also i would of thought what sort of life the engine has had previous to you buying the car; was it serviced/maintained regularly etc

600 ish cc injectors
a good Elbow & exhaust
a midly uprated turbo
re map

350bhp

Good drivability, good reliability.

To be honest, you have to ask the question whether the extra 30hp from 300 to 330 is worth the extra cost of upgrading the various parts necessary. You can effectively reach 280-300 bhp just for the price of a drill bit!!

Dont forget your brakes and handling. Replace bushes etc first before you increase power. My old R had around 320hp or so but with standard brakes. It was dangerous due to the lack of stopping power at speed. Im glad Ive got 6-pots now on this one.

No, you really can just drill a bigger hole in the standard boost solenoid and get a shed-load more power with little other effort. - It's wise to check the fuelling, and do some supporting mods... but chances are that if you don't go silly you can get away without them, then it really has only cost you the price of a drill bit.
