I don't know that I'd describe it as an elbow... maybe it's a restrictor to stop it making too much power?

Still, it would be entertaining to see that running.

I've seen a few videos of little Fiats like that; they've got quite some poke. The SR20 might be just a little too powerful for that shell.

I had a friend with a 6.4 Chevy yellow block in his panel-van. He proceeded to have it bored to 7.2L - a set of tyres lasted less than a month, and a tank of fuel about a day. It was undrivable when the weather wasn't dry.
Last I head he'd put it sideways at 180kmh and written it off.
