A water pipe as gone behind the engine (not exactly sure which one)we have bought an aux kit from DT's but only had 4 hoses in that but think its one of the larger ones that have gone but not sure which.
Does anyone have a set of hoses to sell im desperate as my Gtir is my everyday car and Nissan said they can now get the parts but going to be mid September at the earliest as not in the country:evil:.

Phoned gtir r us but no answer so left message.

seen some on ebay but going to take ages from japan:x

Still waiting on some shims!
I believe Rob sent off a set to Samco to have copied a few years back. I would start by giving them a call..

I have a selection of bits of hose that I bought when my engine was out (and I couldn't get a hose set in time before it had to go back in). - If you know what size you need, I might have something that fits... but I can't guarantee that any of them will be useful because they didn't all fit like I thought they would when I bought them.

Errm about this big :...............: and this big :..........................: lol

Had a bit of a shock when I came to fit the pipes from the AUX kit, it had the two from the heater matrix and then two smaller ones which had a 90deg bend and a 30deg bend. Unfortunately after dislocating my arms to get under there it seems there are 3 x 90deg bends and a straight section between the throttle bodies. But I don't think it's those, connected to the thermostat housing pipes that go round the back of the engine there are two larger bore pipes, while none of these feels split the larger of the two has some resistance when applying pressure, as if there is a separate inner core and I'm assuming that the inside of that pipe has broken away ... that's the theory anyway :)

Judging buy the location and the amount of water running out onto the exhaust (or onto the top of the transfer box and then down to the exhaust) as it was it would seem right but without pressure testing or starting it up you can't see tbh.

Anyone locally got one of those pressure testing kits I can try please?

Going to try again this weekend and might need to take the plenum off to get access so if you have some random pipes it might help if it's not the ones we expected.

payment recieved thankyou lisa;-)

the resistance you can feel is a spring paul.
this is one of the pipes that go from back of waterpump to the long metal pipe to stat housing, there is also one underneath that with a slightly smaller bore.
no need to remove throttle bodies but its a bitch of a job to replace either of those two.
your best off unbolting the metal pipe by the dizzy (2 long bolts) secure it to block, then theres 2 shorter bolts holding it to head on underside of plenum if you get those unbolted then you can pull the pipes apart once hose clips are loosened.

will send everything out guaranteed next day so youll have a fun weekend fitting them

Ah, not seen one of them before, but yeah it is the larger of those two. I'll try doing as you suggest and move the righthand metal pipes, thank you.

Cheers for that lol *whispers* can you leave it a couple of days ;)

If you're doing the one with the spring in, make sure you have it in the correct orientation when you put it back on. The ends are offset so it's bent to suit. In my rush I spent ages trying to put it back on before it twigged, then it went on quite easily.

I just removed the two hoses (and nothing else) as I was replacing both anyway.

Paul it might be an opportunity to tidy up the back of the inlet manifold anyway and link out the hose from the cooling circuit to the manifold. If you do the vac pipes as well then it only takes 10 mins in the future to whizz off the manifold which takes the pain out of a lot of jobs. To do the job I used some silicon hose from the local hydraulics shop.

Hi Jim, when you say 'link out' do you mean remove the pipes from the head/block to the throttle bodies and just join them together so it is not used any more? I've not attempted to take off the manifold yet, does having the pipes there cause some issues?

Pretty much Paul. I just used some decent small bore water hose that I feilled with silicon to close the loop. It probably wouldn't matter if you left it oprn though. It saves having to close off the ends but you might be able to think of a better way to do it.

OK, after spending several hours on this blinkin ... that's not what I have been calling it today ... thing, because the jubilee clips for the larger (spring) pipe must have been put on when the engine was out I've got two choices really, either take it out again which is a bit extreme for changing a couple of pipes or take the manifold off.

I'll try that one first :)

We put it back together yesterday to try and find out where the problem was, it only started leaking when the water was quite hot, hot enough for the fan to be running. Also it really started coming out when revving the engine. This started dripping down the back of the block (from somewhere) right by where the offside drive shaft goes in and then onto the exhaust.

When the engine was off it sounded like a kettle for a minute or two from by underneath the throttle linkage area but way too hot to wedge my hand under there.

Jim, when you mentioned it above and the pipe removal I take it you take the throttle bodies off from the head and remove the pipes going to cool the manifold?

Any ideas on if the pipes going to the oilcooler assembly are essential? I'm not sure if it is that causing the issue as it is also right by the general area and there are no obvious split pipes.

As for the metal pipes from the thermostat housing to help get the two large rubber pipes off, I couldn't see if there was just the two bolts by the dizzy or if there were any more on the right hand side of the engine as the pipes are quite rigid (there was one 12mm bold right by the starter solenoid but I could get a decent angle onto it).

Any hints on either the metal pipes or the manifold?
