Mot failure nightmare

Hi all

I took my car in for it's mot yesterday and was fully expecting it to fail. Especially on the usual things like emissions. However it's done itself proud and failed in as spectacular fashion as possible. Both the rear coilovers are shot  and there are a few more problems although not quite so bad .

I've got Leda coilovers and was wondering if anyone knows if they can be rebuilt, I know finding a replacement will be almost impossible and was wondering if because they're 8 years old I might just be better off buying some new coilovers and not having them repaired.

If new ones are reccommended, what ones should I go for? I don't really have the money to buy anything but I guess I'll find it from somewhere. If someone has some they're trying to shift pm me.

Thanks.

Fair point, I guess it could have been worse, It's just that the cost of repairs is going to be coming out of my turbo elbow, downpipe, exhaust, injectors and remap fund, isn't that always the way, 400bhp is looking alot further off than it did yesterday :p

mate do yourself a favour and buy new coilovers, ive just had a set of ledas reconditioned and im not happy.

had to send them back twice as the quality of work was rubbish, not cheap either. leda aka harveybailey engineering

if i was doing it again i would just buy new.

no they were send down for a full recondition, first time they came back, they had new inserts but the spring seats were still chewed and seized!

plus they had just put new stickers over the old rust! £580

second time they went down, stripped, supposedly replated ,new (expensive) spring seats of which 1 was 2nd hand! £320

theyve started rusting already............

Thanks for the heads up about Leda guys, My garage reckon that they can fix them themselves if they can source the parts so here's hoping, if they can't I'm going to buy a new set, but I won't be able to afford them till next month, I'm already missing the car.

So I sent the coilovers off to be mended, not to Leda, turns out only Leda can mend them as many of the parts are basically unobtainable. They were then sent on to Leda who took one look at them and told me they were busted. Although they did say they could fix them to pass the mot for £350+ or sell me a whole new set for £350 each! I don't have that sort of money, so I'm buying some cheaper ones and the car should hopefully be back on the road with a full Mot by early next week, My wallet will be alot lighter but at least I should be ok for now. The remap will have to wait till after the summer.
