i can not believe how un-acessable that one nut is:doh: , it doents help the other stud being in the way like , but i gave up after about 2 hours, :oops:

it will not budge , gonna try extact the stud next to it the mora and see if it any easier either that or cut it out somehow

That is a shit job mate by the way you don't have to put the nut back on either just a tip as i'm sure many others will tell you!

nah wasnt planning on putting it back in , iv already spoke to mr bobby, think im gonna cut it of , ill have to improvise

Yeh my engine was still hot from the drive lol that added more swearing and blood those Japs must have really small hands!

i wouldnt leave that nut off as that was the one that came loose at totb once and blew like mad but ur choice

got the bastard put a 5mm then 8mm drill through the side of it , took the mani off then wound the stud with some mole grips , took 5mins lol

ill try it with out if it blows it blows ill replace it when i fit the other tubby elbow in a couple of weeks no hardship!


took a few pics ,just gotts sort out a flickr account or summit

just wish id put the drill through it earlier on sat afternoon , i tried ever thing it wouldnt budge ,

i think it had super glue or summit on it ,looks like thers was a white residue on the others,

lol when i put it back together i snapped the head bolt just above the alternator on pot 1, arhh

no f-in about though i had that out in 5 mins, my local motor factors even had the correct studs for 95p

i was gonna try changing any nuts for stainless to prevent them corroding as much as the standard ones.

also whilst on this topic, anyone recommend something to put on the thread that wont get effected by the heat, copper slip maybe?

yeah my tubby elbow only had 3 nuts on , ones at the back where missing, one head stud was loose

i dont think stainless is a good idea not for stud any how , iv used threadlocker (medium) on the stud and nuts

was just thinking for the nut, not the stud.

ive ended up replacing main manifold gasket, manifold to turbo gasket, turbo to waste pipe gasket, waste pipe to down pipe gasket
