Mine ran with the chopped cable for years. - Every now and then, when I got enough snow under the car it might light up the hotdog light... but that's about all it ever did.
This is quite a common problem because they're not chassis rails; they're just sections of box meant to protect things like the brake lines (IIRC).
Hopefully it hasn't raised the floor (or not in any significant way).
I also changed the entire wishbone rather than trying to change the ball joint. - If you buy the "normal" Sunny version, you just need to change the rear bush.
Well, nobody has seen me with the R for a few years now, so nothing changes there. :grinning:
What I'd really like to see is the old girl making it to the postponed 30th anniversary meet in restored condition. - Then I'd now I made the right decision.
I actually put "EZ Bleed" nipples in last time. - They've got a one-way valve, so you crack them open and pump the pedal; the fluid can only go one way.
That's an option for people who struggle to bleed the brakes on their own.
I think he's been trying to get on the club, but said he's not getting the confirmation email. - That's what I'm up to now; trying to see if I can help with that.
I did say that if he joins people will recognise the car.
As I said. - It needs some rust cutting out (probably more now then when I parked it), and it hasn't been turned over in a while either.
Definitely needs new rear arches, and that strut tower at the same time. The rest should be fairly superficial.
It's really just that I can't weld it myself...
Rust is coming back through on the bonnet:
Right (driver-side) rear arch is in the worst condition:
Strut tower also needs work (not a great shot, but there's a hole and I've tried to treat it to prevent it getting worse):
Other side is cosmetically worse (I inherrited that bad filler job...
Clearly I haven't let it go for that.
It doesn't really owe me anything, but I think I could get more than that scrapping it (which is something I'm trying to avoid at all costs).
It's not pissing down with rain today, so I'll try to take some photos of the worst parts.
I was thinking more like £2k. - It doesn't owe me anything really, but as a hunk of steel with some salvageable parts it still has some value.
On guy offered me £1,500 so that's the starting point.
In the last week I've had two people ask me if I'd be willing to let the R go so they could restore it.
I'd rather see it back on the road than stripped for parts, but I don't know what a sensible figure to let it go is. - What's the feeling?
It's an early 1990 in KJ7 (Ivory), and it's...
Rob, I feel you. - I parked the Pulsar up with a view to making a few tweaks and getting someone to sort the rear arches and bought another car to drive in the interim.
The Pulsar is still on axle stands (and has been for a few years now); I'm too used to the new car (and my wife isn't going...
This is a cause close to me. - My siblings (and their families) live in Canberra, my wife has friends and family in NSW; none of them lost anything, but they all know someone that did.
